Dragon King's Harem Chapter 319. Lizard And Dragon III
Viperax, the king of the Lizard tribe, squinted as he inspected Al from head to toe. His reptilian eyes held a flicker of recognition, but the gears in his lizard brain seemed to grind slowly as if trying to place where he'd encountered this figure before. Unsurprisingly, his face gave off that vibe of, 'I think I've seen this person, but I forget where.'
Al was a far cry from the disheveled state Viperax had last witnessed. The king's memory didn't serve him well, but he couldn't forget someone who stood before him now looking like an entirely different character.
"Where's your king? Why did he send someone from the witch tribe to meet me?" Viperax asked curtly. His voice, low and gruff.
The Lizard King's demeanor seemed to be getting on Al's nerves, but I could see the restraint in his expression. Al flashed a smile that seemed to say, 'I can handle this.' "His Majesty will come soon. He has another important business," he declared with an air of respect.
I couldn't help but chuckle inwardly, thinking, 'Oh, he can restrain himself. This is progress.' Al, often the wild card in our plans, had managed to resist the urge to hurl curses at the Lizard King. It was a step in the right direction.
Regardless of whether Al succeeded or failed in this matter, my resolve remained unwavering. Viperax might be a pain in the scales, but the Baron's insolence needed retribution. The audacity to insult royals from three different tribes simultaneously was a declaration of war in its own right.
Viperax gave an arrogant snort that could've put a bull to shame. He shifted his attention to me. "Are they commoners who have messed around with my Baron?" he asked.
I couldn't help but roll my eyes at his attempt at flattery and the thinly veiled arrogance.
"I wouldn't be surprised if he were arrogant and disturbed my Baron," he added, the smirk deepening as if he found the entire situation amusing.
His attention shifted to the Baron, who seized the opportunity to play the victim. “Are they the ones?” he asked
"Yes, yes! They've been bullying me! They beat me and my subordinates at the inn!" the Baron exclaimed, his voice filled with the kind of theatrical distress that would make even a seasoned actor cringe.
I shot back at the Baron with a level of confidence that would make any bard proud, "It was you who disturbed us in the first place. Also, your Baron has stolen a Wyvern’s egg!"
