Chapter 117 Isn't it pretty?
Ethan's eyes flew open, his heart jumping. "What was that?" He scanned the area, his senses on high alert. The fields were silent, the herbs swaying gently in the breeze. Nothing seemed out of place.
He exhaled, his shoulders relaxing. "Just my imagination." But just as he closed his eyes again, the rustling returned, this time accompanied by a soft giggle. Ethan's eyes snapped open, his head whipping to the side.
He caught a glimpse of silver hair disappearing behind a row of tall herbs. "What the...?" He stood up, his body tense. "There is no way..."
He crept through the rows, his footsteps silent as he followed the trail of giggles. They echoed around him, bouncing off the leaves, teasing him. He turned a corner and nearly tripped over a pair of tiny feet.
Ethan stumbled back, his heart racing. No way, but she was right there.
The little girl stood before him, her silver curls bouncing as she giggled. Her eyes were big and bright, filled with mischief. She looked up at him, her face innocent, her smile wide. "Big brother!" she squealed, running up to him and wrapping her arms around his leg.@@@@
Ethan blinked, his mind struggling to process the sight before him. "What... what are you doing here? How did you even find me?"
The little girl tilted her head, her eyes sparkling. "I followed you, silly! You looked funny with your head all shiny." She giggled, poking his bald head with her tiny finger. "You look like a potato!"
Ethan swatted her hand away, his cheeks flushing. "Don't call me a potato, you little brat. You shouldn't be here. It's dangerous." He crouched down, his eyes narrowing. "Did Lia come with you?"
The girl shook her head, her curls bouncing. "Nope! She's back at the house, cleaning. I came all by myself!" She puffed out her chest, clearly proud of herself.
"You what?" He grabbed her shoulders. "Are you crazy? You can't just wander off by yourself! Do you have any idea how dangerous it is out here?"
He turned back to the herbs, his movements fluid, his control more precise. He once again began watering the plants one by one. It was best to get this done fast and get back down. Only when he successfully smuggled this little idiot back inside the house would he be able to relax.
He watered the herbs one after the other, and using less mana also helped him do the job longer. This was definitely going to take all day. He sighed as he walked to the next row. However, he suddenly stopped, as the next row had already been watered.
"Huh?" He looked up in confusion when he heard the familiar giggly sounds beside him. "Big brother! See! See! I am doing magic!"
Ethan's jaw dropped, his eyes widening as he stared at the little girl. She stood beside him, her tiny hands outstretched, her silver curls bouncing with excitement. Water flowed from her fingertips, spiraling through the air before gently falling onto the herbs. It was flawless, controlled, and far more elegant than anything Ethan had managed so far.
"What... the... hell?" Ethan stammered, his mouth hanging open. "How... how are you doing that?"
The girl giggled, her eyes sparkling. "I watched you do it! It looked fun, so I copied you!" She wiggled her fingers, the water swirling around her hands like dancing ribbons. "See? Like this!"
Ethan's head spun. That was not normal. He had spent hours struggling just to summon a trickle of water, and she was doing it effortlessly. How was that even possible? Who was this kid?
He shook his head, his hands gripping her shoulders. "Listen, kid. This isn't normal. Normal people can't just copy magic by watching someone else. Where did you learn to do this?" His eyes searched her face, looking for any hint of a lie.

The girl tilted her head, her face scrunching up in confusion. "I don't know. It just... happened. Like this!" She waved her hands, and the water twisted into a spiral before cascading down over the herbs in a fine mist. "Isn't it pretty?"
Ethan smiled weakly. The girl beamed, her eyes crinkling with joy. "Big brother is surprised! Yay! I did a good job!" She twirled in place, her curls bouncing as the water danced around her.
