Darcy swiftly followed Ryan to the village. The remaining soldiers had left the atmosphere tense, with many villagers worried about potential problems even though no magicians were present.

The forest was still under the control of the soldiers. The search, which had been slow, quickly gained momentum as soon as Ryan arrived. His direct involvement spurred the soldiers into action.

Bella and Darcy moved cautiously, managing to reach the village entrance. They had picked a spot far enough from their last teleportation site, outside the range of Bella's mother, Liana's, magical powers.

“...Mom is slowly moving in this direction. Getting out might be difficult,” Bella muttered with a serious expression, her abilities at work as they entered the village.

Bella’s magic was indeed extraordinary, but Liana was a formidable magician too, once admired by many before her submission to the imperial forces.@@@@

“I’m glad you’re okay too,” Bella smiled brightly, seeing that Lawrence was his usual self.

But their happy moment didn’t last long.

“Do people here know what’s going on outside?” Darcy’s question made Lawrence pause, his expression turning hesitant before he nodded slightly.

“Uh... they know the soldiers are looking for us, but hardly anyone’s been going out lately because they’re worried they’ll be caught.”

Leaving the village would put everyone at risk, so the villagers had been extremely cautious.

“You two should catch up. I need to go,” Darcy said, ignoring Bella’s protest as he disappeared into the darkness.
