Chapter 562 - 550: Big Trouble is Coming!
In Starbucks.
"Qin Fan, what happened?" Seeing Qin Fan’s rare, sullen expression, Jiang Yino asked anxiously.
"My sister’s being bullied!" Qin Fan replied bluntly.
"Your sister’s being bullied? What’s going on? Where?" Jiang Yino asked in a flurry.
"Jinling Avenue. Yinuo, use your phone to hail a ride right now! We’re going there immediately!"
As he spoke, Qin Fan pulled out a hundred-yuan bill and tucked it under his coffee cup. He shot to his feet. A glance at his phone showed the call with Ji Yi was still connected and there were no new developments. He immediately dialed Li Qiuzhe’s number.
"Fourth Bro!"
The call connected after two rings. "Boss!" Li Qiuzhe answered hurriedly.
"I need a favor. Get a few buckets of orange paint and start heading towards Jinling Avenue, in the direction of the Confucius Temple. Meet me there, right now! Don’t ask why; you’ll understand when you get there!" After saying his piece, Qin Fan promptly hung up.
He pulled up a dazed-looking Jiang Yino, who had just finished booking their ride, and strode commandingly out of Starbucks.
"Qin Fan, what are you going to do?" Jiang Yino asked nervously as they stood outside the cafe waiting for the car to arrive. This side of Qin Fan genuinely frightened her.
"No one gets to bully my people! No one!" Qin Fan said, his face grim.
During the call with Ji Yi, the insults he had overheard—the repeated cries of ’bitch’—had thoroughly ignited his fury. A certain scion from Beijing had previously been sent to the ICU by Qin Fan merely for uttering those same words. Now, not only was this scumbag bullying his sister, but he was also brazenly hurling the same profanity at her again and again. One could only imagine the rage boiling inside Qin Fan.
As Qin Fan finished speaking, a Toyota Corolla with its hazard lights flashing pulled up to the curb.
"Qin Fan, the car’s here!" Jiang Yino pointed, not yet having had a chance to respond to his grim declaration.
"Let’s go!" Taking Jiang Yino’s small hand, Qin Fan hurried toward the car.
He quickly pulled open the back door, and they both slid into the rear seat. Taking a thick stack of cash from his pocket, he tossed it onto the empty front passenger seat. Before the driver could process his astonishment, Qin Fan said preemptively, "Get to Jinling Avenue as fast as you can. Ignore red lights and speed limits. All this money is yours!"
"Ah! Friend, are you joking?"
The driver picked up a few bills and froze. They were all crisp, new, and sequentially numbered. This has to be at least ten thousand yuan... And it’s all just to get me to hurry?
"I don’t have time to waste. Go!" Qin Fan snapped.
This made Jiang Yino, sitting beside him, feel her heart tighten with anxiety. Her delicate hand, already holding his, tightened its grip, and she scooted closer to him. She wanted to tell Qin Fan to control his emotions, but as a woman with high emotional intelligence, she knew the best thing she could do right now was to stay quietly by his side.
"Alright, alright!"
Seeing that the young couple didn’t look like criminals and tempted by the stack of cash, the driver swallowed hard and agreed. He stomped on the accelerator, and the car shot forward.
「At the same time.」
From all directions, with Jinling Avenue as the epicenter, dozens of luxurious supercars roared like beasts, all racing at breakneck speeds. With their hazard lights flashing brightly in the daylight, they all converged on a single destination: Jinling Avenue.
It seemed the flashing hazard lights beside the luxury emblems had become a signal, as more and more supercars joined the rapidly converging stream. They tore through the streets at incredible speeds.
Three cars.
Ten cars.
Thirty cars.
Sixty cars.
Nearly a hundred cars!
When the feeds from all over the city streamed back to the large surveillance screens at the Jinling Traffic Bureau, the officers on duty panicked instantly.
"What’s going on?"
"Where did all these luxury cars come from all of a sudden?"
"Are they all heading for Jinling Avenue?"
"These rich kids can’t be trying to cause trouble, can they? In broad daylight, they’re taking over the road, running red lights, and ignoring speed limits? Damn it! Something terrible is about to happen! Report to the Director immediately!"
More and more people gathered in front of the surveillance screens. They watched in alarm as the luxury cars ignored all traffic regulations, speeding recklessly with their hazard lights flashing.
"What happened?"
Just then, the director of the Traffic Bureau, a man with high-level rank insignia on his uniform, walked in frowning.
"Director, you have to see this! There’s trouble! Countless multi-million-yuan luxury cars have suddenly appeared, and they’re driving recklessly! This has all the makings of a major incident! I checked some of the license plates, and many belong to the children of Jinling’s most powerful figures. What should we do?" a police officer quickly reported.
"What!"
He slammed the file in his hand onto a desk. The Director strode hastily to the front of the large screen. After seeing the footage, however, he froze for a moment. He quickly recovered and shouted, "Analyze their routes! Find out where they’re all going!"
"Director, we already did! From every direction, all paths converge on Jinling Avenue!" another officer exclaimed.
Jinling Avenue? The Director’s brow furrowed sharply.
He shouted, "Quick, get the Heavenly Eye satellite feed online! I want to see what’s happening on Jinling Avenue right now!"
Following several hurried acknowledgements, a few clerks used their authorization to activate Heavenly Eye, pulling up a live feed of Jinling Avenue.
After filtering through the feeds, the section of road leading to the Confucius Temple appeared on the main screen.
On that stretch of road, several Japanese cars of mixed makes were parked on the side with their hazard lights on. A group of more than a dozen people was surrounding an elderly man in a sanitation worker’s uniform and a young woman.
Seeing this, everyone in front of the screen fell silent. It was obvious to them all that this was the epicenter of the unfolding incident. Those luxury cars were undoubtedly headed for this scene.
"Director, what do we do? How should we handle this? Should we send traffic police to control the situation? If this escalates, the impact could be massive!" a police officer said in a panic.
"It’s too late," the Director said with a helpless sigh, his brow deeply furrowed.
Too late? What does he mean, it’s too late? The officers were completely baffled.
Before they could ask, the Director continued, "Those cars all belong to the sons of our city’s corporate titans, and that’s not even counting the young masters from the ’big compound’ families! Chang Yuanyi, Zhou Fuming, Ma Changkong, Li Yufan... each one is more of a hellion and more arrogant than the last!"
"So... we just let it go?" several officers cried out in disbelief.
"No! Get the traffic police to lock down the area immediately. Also, notify the Municipal Public Security Bureau! And report this to the City Party Committee!"
With those words, the Director turned and strode quickly back to his office.
