Chapter 1411 You'd Be Dead Already
Chapter 1411 You'd Be Dead Already
A mental game.
Rex, as someone with power, was very familiar with this concept.
But he usually dwells in a mental game—where using a pond full of blood was not prohibited, not the likes of empty words and mockeries like this. Only the strong could survive, and even demand something in this dark world.
Anyone who was not strong or worse, weak, would have no say in anything.
For them, it is either to live under the rule of the strong or die.
However, Rex understands that power doesn't only involve individual strength.
Even the System would agree with him on that—and right now, it was clear—and undeniable that the Zahara Consortium wields the power. Being a strategic piece for the current trouble, they have the free reign to do whatever they want.
"Don't mind her manners, it has been a long journey" Rex intervened, easing the tension.
He doesn't mind being called his name, it was somewhat refreshing.
Nobody dared to call him by his name other than the pack and this was amusing for him.
Upon hearing his low-baritone voice, the two Tabaxis nodded and dropped the matter.
"The Mistress and Master are waiting for your arrival," One of them said.
Rex then gestured with his hand, "Go ahead and lead me, I'm eager to see them also"
Once again, Rex and Iris followed the two Tabaxis along with Kazzir across the Golden Edge, a place—that prioritized the military. As Rex walked on its street, he immediately could see a lot of Tabaxi soldiers training and blacksmiths hammering a new weapon.
It was a completely different atmosphere.
Along the way, Rex glanced at the surroundings and noticed a bleak aura clouding above.
All of them are scared.
Despite seemingly nonchalant about his sudden appearance here—these Tabaxis were really stressed inside. Even the two Tabaxis who were escorting him were leaking with a faint bleak aura, they were also scared.
Being feared is a good thing, the process would go smoothly.
Soon—the group arrived at a vertically tall building that was at least thirty floors high.
It wasn't massive but it was extremely high.
More soldiers, all of them around the sixth-rank to the seventh-rank realm could be seen.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
All of them stood tall like statues, holding a curving blade at their chests.
Upon reaching the door, Rex was stopped by the two guards standing on either side.
Iris was quite annoyed by them, a new mid-rank Supernatural race acting presumptuous like this was rare. Back in the day—any race who were new like them would be extra careful—as one wrong move and their foundation would be crushed.
However, she didn't act—she followed Rex's move.
"Why am I being stopped?" Rex asked, raising an eyebrow at the two escorts.
One of them gestured to the golden treasure chest on the side, "Put anything on you in that chest. It's prohibited to bring anything inside other than yourself—this is a direct order from Master Serevan and Mistress Serevia"
Rex smirked and paused, looking at the two escorts with an unsettling gaze.
Naturally, his gaze intensified the bleak aura coming from them as well as rising the tension.
But in the next second, he decided to comply and placed everything on him which was not much, into the treasure chest. He was left with a sleeveless combat shirt, that exposed his arm muscles and also his fingerguards.
From their faces, it seemed the fingerguards were also a problem so he also took it off.
On the other hand, Iris also did the same—placing her bow and cloak inside.
It was only then did the Tabaxi guards retracted back their blades and allowed them to enter.
Upon entering through the door—Rex was met with quite a small square-shaped room with a formation carved at the center. He didn't need Kazzir to guide him and instantly stood on top of the formation.
Most of the Tabaxis Rex saw along the way were slender and athletic but Serevan was bulky.
Compared to Rex, he was slightly bigger.
On the table, a few cups were served there with a teapot at the center.
"Serevan, Serevia," Kazzir stepped forward and gestured towards Rex. "this is Rex Silverstar"
As soon as he said that—Serevia and Serevan focused on Rex—looking at him up and down as this was the first time meeting the rising star of the new era. Someone who defeated the Fifthborn in combat.
Rex gazed at the two of them and instantly fixed on their ears.
Serevan's whiskers were tinged with a blue hue, while Serevia's carried a delicate shade of pink.
Keeping those colors in mind, Rex stepped forward and sat down on his designated seat.
A profound silence enveloped the room but Rex didn't seem to be bothered.
"I understand my visit is sudden but I've come here with respect," Rex started, reaching his hand to grab the teapot and pour himself a drink. "I've complied with your rules as this was your land, carried no bad intention, and even prepared a gift..."
Upon saying that, Rex flicked his fingers and summoned an item from the inventory.
A pristine white cat statue suddenly appeared in his hand.
Just from the detail of the statue, as well as the subtle but profound energy coming from it, the statue was definitely, not a normal one. It was called the Dexterous Cat Statue that Rex had bought from the System.
It costs quite a lot for a mere eight-rank realm item, thirty thousand gold to be exact.
Seeing the item, the twin rulers' gaze changed.
One look is all it takes for them to recognize what it is, and they want it.
"At the very least, shouldn't I be given a sliver of trust from you two?" Rex asked, eyeing both of them interchangeably. "Shouldn't I at the very least have this audience with the two of you alone without prying eyes?"
Upon hearing this, Serevan waved his hand, gesturing for Kazzir to leave, "Leave us"
Kazzir nodded and stepped onto the formation again.
However, Rex stopped him, "I didn't mean Kazzir, I mean our invisible friends up there"
Rex glanced at the high ceiling, he found multiple stat windows appearing from there.
Surprisingly enough, he couldn't see or even sense these invisible entities had it not for the fact that he scanned the room the moment he entered. It was quite commendable for them to control these entities.
From a glance, there were five of them.
Each one of them was of the mid-ninth-rank realm, quite strong for a mid-rank race.
Had King Jorik or Queen Shanaela been here, they would've been pressured by these things.
Considering that the Zahara Consortium was new, this must be one of their trump cards.
Naturally, realizing what Rex meant by what he said didn't only surprise Serevan and Serevia but also the entities on the walls. All of them moved higher, a bleak aura seeping out of them as they didn't expect Rex to notice them that quickly.
Ignoring their surprises, Rex sipped on the tea and praised the taste inside.
He was composed and completely in control.
Recovering from his surprise, Serevan leaned forward and placed his elbow on the table.
"Do you seriously think we would let ourselves be exposed when we are going to meet you?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "We know your reputation, we know that you're unpredictable, so don't think we're going to trust you that easily. As far as we are concerned—you suddenly coming here is a threat"
On the other hand, Serervia didn't intervene but she seemed to be in the same boat.
Rex placed his teacup down calmly before turning to meet Serevan's gaze.
"If you know my reputation then you would know that this was not necessary" Rex replied, his eyes glowing with power as his lips curved up. "and also, I don't need to make threats. I suddenly came here because of an emergency that's all"
Upon hearing this, Serevan raised an eyebrow, "What are you saying?"
"I'm saying, that bringing protection wasn't necessary," Rex answered quickly, his expression turned serious—and cold as ice. "because if I ever wanted you two to be dead then you'd be dead already"
