The Daily Life of the Demon King

Chapter 713 - 712: The Unpleasant Vacation Has Come to an End.

Chapter 713 - 712: The Unpleasant Vacation Has Come to an End.

Dawn was still two very short hours away. And these last two hours seemed to Sullivan like an entire eternity filled with terrible pain, various tortures, and suffering. Every minute for him seemed to stretch out, becoming longer. Sullivan endured all possible torments with one single hope — to see the dawn, and then all of this would finally end, and he would be free.He didn't even have the opportunity to think about anything other than pain and the hope for life, which began to fade with every new torture. His skin had turned black after being burned, one eye was missing, and his limbs were broken and twisted as if someone had tried to squeeze all the fluid out of them. Sullivan felt his mind gradually breaking.

And as soon as this happened, his mind would heal, and everything would repeat again. He understood that if any other person were in his place, they would have already died from such wounds. But Sullivan knew the reason why he couldn't die — he was cursed to live in torment. The sight of his own beating heart in the hands of the monster no longer caused Sullivan anything but the realization that he would not die, no matter how much they tortured him.

Time continued to pass, and soon the two long hours of torture began to come to an end as the first rays of the rising sun appeared on the horizon. The first rays of the rising sun struck Sullivan's only remaining eye. And together with the first rays of the sun, Sullivan stopped feeling the pain from the tortures and began to sense that his nightmare was finally coming to an end.

Tears began to flow from Sullivan's eye because he thought that everything would soon be over. Stopping the torture of Sullivan, Alex rose from his crouch and turned toward the rising sun, which was slowly appearing from behind the trees. Lighting a cigarette, Alex took a drag of the cigarette smoke and exhaled.

During the torture of Sullivan, Alex's clothes, hands, and face became even more covered in blood, but this didn't bother him at all. Clenching the cigarette between his teeth, Alex turned to Sullivan and saw that he was crying. In Sullivan's only eye, Alex saw hope.

"Congratulations, little Sally. You lived to see the dawn. And I'm letting you go," Alex said with a gentle smile on his face.

Sullivan with difficulty turned his mutilated head toward Alex, as if not believing what he had heard. After all, the longer these sophisticated tortures lasted, the more hope for freedom he lost. And now, hearing that it was all over, Sullivan wanted to sigh. But every breath in and out caused him another portion of pain because of his throat burned by flames.

Sullivan already thought that now his body would be healed and he would be able to leave. But instead of healing, he felt a very thick smell of blood that seemed to stick to his burned body. With difficulty lowering his gaze, Sullivan saw long pale hands that grabbed his body, digging into his skin burned to the state of coal. Sullivan looked at Alex, not understanding what was happening. And looking at Alex, he saw the same gentle smile that had been on Alex's face throughout the entire period of torture.

"You're probably wondering what's going on… Of course, I'll tell you. The terms of our deal were as follows. You live until dawn, and I let you go. And I am letting you go…" exhaling cigarette smoke, Alex said, flicking the ash onto Sullivan's face.

Sullivan nodded his head with difficulty, remembering every word Alex had spoken. After all, those words were literally burned into his mind. And those words were his only hope that he could escape the clutches of the monster that Alex was and start everything over. Only those words supported the hope of survival inside him.

Alex calmly squatted down next to Sullivan's head and opened his mouth with a finger. Inside Sullivan's mouth, only shattered fragments of teeth remained after all those tortures he had gone through. Taking another drag of cigarette smoke, Alex shoved the smoldering cigarette into Sullivan's mouth.

"But you see, here's the catch. I am letting you go… But my wife was not going to let you go… And how should I put it… My wife has a very strong dislike for such scum like you. And the place where you'll end up is her personal world. So good luck," Alex said in a lazy tone, lightly patting Sullivan on the cheek.

Hearing Alex's words, Sullivan's eyes instantly dimmed, and all hope immediately disappeared. Sullivan wanted to ask if they had never intended to let him go from the very beginning. Sullivan wanted to ask what he had done to deserve all this, because he was simply doing everything that the voice of God, with whom he spoke, had commanded.

Until the very end, Sullivan still believed that he had done everything right. And he did not deserve such an end. Listening to Sullivan's thoughts, Alex just shook his head, once again convinced of how fried this fat bastard's brains were. Waving his hand, Alex preferred to have no more dealings with Sullivan. After all, a very exciting time awaited him in the Red City. And before Sullivan was dragged into the Red City, Alex touched his forehead with a finger.

Alex was going to change Sullivan's memories, erasing all memories associated with the tortures and replacing them with completely different ones. Now Sullivan would only remember that everything he had built was destroyed, and he ended up in the Red City, where his only goal was to find the Red Door that would grant him freedom.

After Alex changed Sullivan's memories, the pale hands dragged his fat body into the shadows. When Sullivan disappeared, Alex's shadow trembled slightly, taking the shape of a girl with long flowing hair.

"My love, you will throw this fat guy into a more dangerous area. Let him have some fun," Alex said, squatting down and touching his shadow.

After Alex's words, a pale female hand emerged from the shadow, slowly approached Alex's face, and immediately grabbed him by the nose. Zhang Ya lightly squeezed Alex's nose, reminding him that she knew what she needed to do and how to properly torture such scum like Sullivan. Feeling his wife's emotions, Alex laughed and gently took Zhang Ya's palm in his hand, lightly kissing it.

Deciding to joke a little, Alex began rubbing his cheek against the back of Zhang Ya's hand. Very quickly, Zhang Ya's palm became covered with dried blood that had previously been on Alex's face. A quiet female sigh came from Alex's shadow, and after that Zhang Ya pulled herself free from Alex's grip and squeezed his face with her fingers, hinting that he shouldn't have smeared her hands.

Feeling his face being squeezed, Alex chuckled slightly and kissed Zhang Ya's palm again, smiling and apologizing for his joke. Zhang Ya poked Alex's nose with her finger one last time, and her hand sank back into the shadow.

"I urgently need a shower, coffee, and sleep," Alex said, straightening up and looking at the risen sun.

Lighting a cigarette, Alex slightly moved his neck and began to leave. Passing by the place where the New Ezekiel Covenant community had previously been, Alex looked at the shallow crater. Exhaling cigarette smoke and looking at the crater, Alex made sure that he had erased absolutely all traces that a sect of fanatics had once been in this place.

Throwing the smoldering cigarette into the shallow crater, Alex turned around and headed toward the pier to return. Nodding his head to the rhythm of the music playing in his headphones, Alex took a step and found himself on the wooden pier, where he was greeted by the two corpses of those who had brought him to this community.

Passing by the corpses, Alex flicked the ash from his cigarette onto their heads. And at the same moment the ash touched the corpses' heads, they instantly burst into flames along with the pier. Paying no attention to the flames following him, Alex reached the edge of the pier and jumped into the wooden boat. Pushing off the edge of the pier with his foot, Alex lay down in the boat, allowing it to drift downstream. The boat began to slowly float down the river, and Alex simply lay there with his hands behind his head.

"I want strawberry ice cream. I've earned it," Alex muttered, lying in the boat and looking at the sky, which was gradually turning blue.

While the boat drifted downstream, Alex closed his eyes, not worrying that someone might see him in such a state. After all, the sight of a person covered in dried blood could cause a very big commotion. And while Alex lazily lay in the boat, drifting downstream, in the forest cabin where the others were, their own events were also unfolding.

After Alex left, everyone decided to rest to process everything that had happened to them. But until sunrise, no one fell asleep, continuing to stay on guard just in case. Only when the sun began to rise did everyone breathe a sigh of relief because throughout the entire night no more crazy fanatics screaming about the apocalypse had appeared.

Pushing aside the tightly closed curtain, Samantha looked out the window and saw the first rays of the sun breaking through the foliage of the trees. Taking her phone out of her pocket to check the time, Samantha opened the Guild app and connected to the Fairy-Drone that was monitoring Alex. Seeing that everything was over, Samantha just sighed at the fact that Alex was covered in dried blood from head to toe.

"Sammy, what's going on out there?" Jessica asked, rubbing her eyes and feeling sleepy after a very unpleasant day.

"It's all over, no need to worry anymore," Samantha said, putting the phone back in her pocket.

"So no more fanatics will come after your friend. Well, that's great news," Tucker said, folding his arms across his chest and nodding.

"Yeah, sure. Just super news. We came here to relax, and in the end everything turned into a complete fucking shitshow again. I'm just shocked at how great everything is," Emily said indignantly, throwing her hands up in irritation.

"I don't want to ruin the mood, Emily. But there are still fanatics' corpses scattered in the forest. And two are lying a few meters from the doors," Chris said, pulling back the curtain to show the corpses outside.

"I don't care. I'm not doing anything. You want to get rid of the corpses? Go ahead, I won't stop you. I wash my hands of this. I'm going to pack my things. I've had enough of this shit," Emily said, getting up from the couch and heading to her room with heavy steps.

Matt immediately followed Emily to calm her down, as he usually did. But as soon as he caught up with her, the door slammed shut loudly right in front of his nose, making it clear that he should shut up.

Matt looked embarrassed at the closed door and shifted his gaze to the others. No one said it, but everyone felt exactly the same as Emily. They were all just tired and wanted to leave this place.

"Alright, guys. Let's go get rid of the bodies. I don't want to say it, but we have to do this," Mike said, preparing to go outside.

"Josh and I will dig a pit next to the house," Chris said, handing a shovel to Josh.

"Alright, kids. Dale and I will help you. Hauling corpses again isn't that big of a problem. None of us want the police showing up with questions about bodies," Tucker said, getting up from the chair and patting Dale on the shoulder.

"But how are we supposed to find all these corpses?" Matt asked, taking off his jacket so as not to get it covered in blood.

"Follow the blood trail. That's how you'll find them," Samantha said, standing up from the chair.

"That simple?" Chris asked in surprise, looking at Samantha.

"Yes, that simple. And it's better if you don't eat anything for the next while," Samantha replied, shrugging slightly and heading to her room to pack her things before leaving as well.

What Samantha didn't say as she went to her room was that the corpses Alex had left might not be in the most intact condition. The only advice she gave was that it would be better if they didn't eat anything. When Samantha left to pack, Hannah, Jessica, and Ashley also went to pack their things so as not to stay in this place any longer.

When the girls left, the guys just exchanged glances with each other and began to go outside one by one. Chris and Josh immediately went to dig a large enough pit to bury all the corpses. And Chris already had similar experience digging pits from playing the role of a ghost hunter.

Mike, Matt, Tucker, and Dale dragged the two nearest corpses to the intended pit area and immediately headed into the forest. Very quickly, the group of guys found the first corpse. Seeing the corpse, the guys understood why Samantha had asked them not to eat anything. The first corpse they found was the one whose head Alex had crushed with his bare hand.

"For all the saints, how did he do that to him. This poor guy looks like his head was put in a press," Tucker said, lightly kicking the corpse with his foot and holding back his disgust.

"What head, Tucker? There isn't one here," Dale said, rubbing his arm and trying not to look at the corpse.

"That's what I'm saying, idiot. Alright, guys, Dale and I will handle this stiff, and you go on ahead," Tucker said, waving his hand at Matt and Mike.

Mike and Matt nodded and continued along the trail, which was hard to miss and which led further into the forest. Left alone with the corpse, Tucker took off his cap and wiped the sweat from his forehead. Rubbing his face, Tucker once again asked himself what the hell had happened.

After all, he had simply wanted to relax in a country cabin he had bought with his friend, drink beer, go fishing, and work on repairing the house itself. And in the end, he had to search the forest for fanatics' corpses to bury them. Putting his cap back on, Tucker just laughed, shaking his head.

"Alright, Dale. Grab this dead guy's leg and let's drag him," Tucker said, grabbing one of the corpse's legs.

"Tucker, is this normal?… I mean, everything we're doing right now?" Dale asked, grabbing the second leg of the corpse and starting to drag it through the forest.

"No, Dale. This is not fucking normal at all… But we simply don't have a choice. So shut up and keep dragging the corpse," Tucker replied in an irritated tone, looking at Dale.

Dale could only nod and continue dragging along with Tucker. Very quickly, Tucker and Dale returned to the forest cabin and placed the corpse next to the other two. Chris and Josh were trying to dig a large enough pit as quickly as possible to hide all the corpses there.

When Tucker and Dale left, Mike and Matt returned after a while, each dragging their half of one corpse. None of them spoke about the condition of the corpses they found. And fortunately for all of them, the spell calming the mind continued to work, so none of them panicked but acted rationally, as much as possible in such a situation.

An hour passed very quickly, and all the corpses in the forest that Alex had left were found. The guys helped Chris and Josh dig the pit and then threw all the corpses into it. While the corpses were being thrown into the pit, Chris returned with a bag of salt and sprinkled it on top of the corpses.

"Dude, we're burying them, not cooking them. This isn't a steak," Tucker said, watching what Chris was doing.

"It's for insurance. A lot of things can happen," Chris said, emptying the bag of salt onto the corpses.

"Yeah, next you'll say these dead guys will become ghosts. Sure, I'll believe that," Tucker said, rolling his eyes.

Those who knew it was possible just exchanged glances, not intending to talk about it. While the guys were busy with the corpses, the girls had brought all the bags into the RV and were sitting on the porch in silence. Samantha leaned against a wooden beam, holding her phone and watching as Alex lazily drifted downstream in the boat.

Sighing, Samantha wanted him to return as soon as possible. She no longer wanted to stay in this place, just like everyone else. Seeing that Alex had almost reached the pier, Samantha put her phone back in her pocket.

"Next time, no country cabins. Better to meet at someone's house. There definitely won't be any monsters, maniacs, or fanatics," Jessica said in a upset tone, propping up her cheeks with her hands.

"Yeah, sure. But first I'd better have a few sessions with a psychologist," Emily said, shaking her head.

"Not just you. You'll all need it… Ugh, Miss Kim will have to listen to all this again. I don't envy her," Samantha said with a smile, looking at her friends.

"Oh, come on. Not everyone is as tough as you. I'm just shocked that you don't need it. I can't even imagine how anyone can live such a life. It's just horrible," Jessica said, looking at Samantha with an empty gaze.

"I agree. At least this time everything worked out and no one got hurt… And where is your beloved fiancé? He'll be back soon, right? Because we definitely can't leave without him," Emily said, nodding and shifting her gaze to Samantha.

"He'll be back soon. He wrote that he's drifting in a boat," Samantha said, yawning slightly and feeling sleepy.

"You meant floating in a boat?" Ashley asked in confusion, thinking she had misheard.

Samantha looked tiredly at Ashley, making it clear that she had said exactly what she meant. Seeing Samantha's look, the girls realized that instead of returning faster, Alex was simply drifting downstream in the boat. Samantha, however, knew the real reason for Alex's action — he simply didn't want to do anything and clean up the mess he had left behind.

By this time, the guys had set the pit with the corpses on fire to get rid of all traces. Returning to the girls, the guys asked the same question about when Alex would return. Receiving the answer, the guys just nodded and sat down on the porch as well to rest.

Tucker and Dale thought about returning to their forest cabin, but they also needed to call a tow truck to pull out their pickup, which had been stuck on a rock since yesterday. Ten minutes later, a voice began to sound from the forest that caught everyone's attention. Turning their heads, they saw Alex, who was covered from head to toe in dried blood and soot.

"We never stop to believe in magic. We're diving into the light… We never stop to believe in magic. We will be forever young, ever young…" Alex sang loudly, dancing to the rhythm of the music, not paying attention to the glances directed at him.

Staring at Alex, who was covered in dried blood from head to toe and singing a song, this caused quite mixed feelings in everyone. Especially the way Alex looked said a lot, particularly about what he had done in the fanatics' settlement.

Looking at her husband, Samantha sighed slightly and took a bucket of water and a rag that she had thoughtfully prepared. And while Alex wasn't paying attention and continued singing, Samantha poured the bucket of water over him to help him at least clean up a little. She didn't even want to ask why he returned in such a state instead of using magic to clean himself.

"And what was that for?" Alex asked, spitting out the water that got into his mouth.

"Did you really have to come back looking like this?" Samantha asked, starting to rub Alex's face with a clean rag to wipe off the dried blood.

"I think I'll skip that question… I want ice cream… Strawberry," Alex said, not interfering with Samantha wiping the blood from his face.

"I'll buy you ice cream. But first we need to clean you up at least a little. You look like you fell into a pit of corpses. And take off your T-shirt, it's inconvenient for me," Samantha sighed, wringing out the rag and continuing to wipe Alex's face and hands.

Alex nodded with a satisfied smile, pulling off his blood-covered T-shirt. Still listening to the music playing in his headphones, Alex swayed from side to side, allowing Samantha to wipe the blood from his body. Everyone watching this strange atmosphere just shook their heads.

It took Samantha half an hour to at least somewhat scrub the dried blood from Alex's face and hands so he wouldn't look like he had escaped from a horror movie. Running his hand through his wet hair, Alex pulled out a piece of someone's flesh that had gotten stuck in his hair. Shrugging, Alex threw the piece of flesh aside with a carefree expression on his face.

Putting his T-shirt back on, Alex heard Samantha's irritated sigh. Turning his head, Alex tilted his head to the side, not understanding why Samantha was irritated. Seeing Alex's puzzled look, Samantha sighed once again, pinching the bridge of her nose, and pointed her finger at his clothes, hinting that he had put the blood-soaked T-shirt back on. Alex lowered his gaze and understood what Samantha meant.

"So you took care of everything yourself again?" Mike asked, approaching Alex and Samantha.

"Yeah. I just burned their entire community along with them," Alex said, nodding at Mike's question.

Mike just nodded and asked no more questions. He wasn't going to ask what and how everything had happened there; he had enough of the fact that no one else would become a victim of this sect of fanatics. No one else asked questions either after hearing Alex's answer — everyone just wanted to leave this place.

Before leaving, Alex decided to burn the forest cabin and told Jessica about it. Jessica said nothing and entered the RV, showing that she didn't care what happened to this forest house. Seeing Jessica's actions, Alex entered the forest cabin, and a moment later came out.

And at the same moment, fire began to spread inside the forest cabin. Entering the forest cabin, Alex saw that everyone was practically asleep, leaning against each other. Realizing that he would have to drive the RV, Alex sat behind the wheel.

"Dude, can you give us a ride to our house? No desire to wander through the forest after all this," Tucker asked, patting Alex on the shoulder.

"No problem, Tucker. I think no one will mind if we make a small detour," Alex said with a smile, starting the engine.

Tucker nodded and sat down next to Alex, also feeling tired after everything that had happened. Looking out the window, Alex began turning the steering wheel to drive onto the forest path. Throughout the entire trip to Tucker and Dale's forest cabin, there was silence in the RV, and everyone was practically asleep.

Stopping on the forest path, Alex shook Tucker's hand in farewell. Tucker thanked Alex once again and said goodbye to everyone in his own style. Before leaving, Dale wanted to take Hannah's number, which she had given him with a smile on her face. Receiving Hannah's number, Dale literally beamed with happiness while Tucker pulled him outside.

Watching this, Alex chuckled. Already about to drive further, Alex heard the sound of a notification. Taking his phone out of his pocket, Alex saw a message from Dean. After reading the message, Alex replied with a thumbs-up emoji.

"I think we'll make one more detour," Alex said, turning around and looking toward the cabin area.

"Why? Just don't tell me the roads are blocked and they're checking everything now?" Mike asked, approaching Alex.

"No, we need to pick up some hitchhikers at the psychiatric hospital," Alex said, putting the phone back in his pocket.

Hearing Alex's words, everyone agreed and continued resting. Mike patted Alex on the shoulder and returned to Jessica to let her rest. Samantha sat down next to Alex and closed her eyes, leaning back in the seat. Lighting a cigarette, Alex pressed the gas pedal and drove along the forest path to get onto the highway.

Tapping on the steering wheel, Alex wanted to return to the bunker with the hope of a little rest. After the RV pulled onto the highway, Samantha opened her eyes and patted Alex on the thigh, attracting his attention. Turning his head, Alex asked what Samantha wanted. Seeing her look, Alex smiled, showing that everything was fine and that he wasn't upset about the ruined vacation.

"Everything's fine. You could even say I had some fun playing the role of a creepy maniac. So plus or minus, the vacation was a success. All that's left is to buy ice cream," Alex said with a smile on his face, poking Samantha's nose with his finger.

"Yes, I'll buy you that ice cream. Better watch the road. We don't need to get into an accident after all this, idiot," Samantha said, laughing and poking Alex's cheek with her finger, turning his face toward the road.

Alex laughed, continuing to drive the RV. It took almost an hour to reach the road leading to Mount Massive Sanitarium, and on approach, a black cloud of smoke rising into the sky could be seen. Looking out the window, Alex saw a thick column of black smoke and wondered what kind of incendiary grenade Dean had taken that the sanitarium was burning so fiercely.

Approaching the sanitarium gates, Alex and Samantha saw silhouettes standing near the guard booth. Getting closer, Alex saw the condition Dean and Sam were in. The Winchester brothers looked exactly like Alex — covered from head to toe in blood and dirt. Only Seras and Wednesday remained clean, as if they had spent all this time outside.

Stopping a meter from the barrier, Alex leaned out the window. Seeing the approaching RV, Dean and Sam got up from the ground, holding their things. A smile immediately appeared on Seras's face when she saw Alex. Wednesday, as always, was cold, holding a suitcase with torture tools in her hands.

"Oi, your taxi has arrived… Looking good," Alex said with a smile, leaning out the window and waving his hand.

"You too. I hope you have water or at least wet wipes. I'll be washing this dirt off myself for another month," Dean said, approaching the RV.

"Not just you, Dean. We need a car wash, not a shower," Sam said, holding a bag full of documents.

Alex scratched his cheek and shifted his gaze to Seras and Wednesday, who had approached the RV. Entering the RV, Dean and Sam threw their things on the floor and, without even greeting anyone, began trying to wash off the blood and dirt. The appearance of Dean and Sam covered in blood made Samantha's friends shift their gaze to Alex, who had returned in exactly the same state.

While Samantha introduced the others to who Dean and Sam were, Seras quickly jumped up to Alex, rubbed his cheek with her palm, and then quickly kissed him. Wednesday said nothing and sat down in the front seat, opened her little suitcase, and took out two small black cubes.

"Here, as you requested. The doctor turned out to be quite interesting… But he talked too much," Wednesday said, dropping the two black cubes onto Alex's lap.

"The second one was no better. He kept walking around repeating something about piglets… And maybe I almost killed him. It was accidental," Seras said in an embarrassed tone, lightly scratching her cheek.

"Thanks anyway… And Seras, don't you need to return to Hellsing?" Alex said with a smile, putting the black cubes in his pocket and looking at Seras.

"Lady Integra allowed me to take one day off. And I want to see the Bunker. Enid and Alice told me a lot about it, and I'm very curious," Seras said with a bright smile on her face, folding her arms across her chest.

"Integra gave you a day off… Do miracles really happen?" Alex said in surprise, freezing in place while starting the engine and not believing that Integra could give Seras a day off.

"I was surprised too. But, unfortunately, only one day," Seras said, nodding, and then sighed.

"Let's go already. Stop standing still and wasting time," Wednesday said, intervening in the conversation.

Hearing Wednesday's cold tone, Alex quickly started the engine and began reversing to turn around. Leaving the Mount Massive territory, Dean approached Alex, pointing to the bag with documents. Alex nodded, showing that they would talk later.

Dean nodded and leaned on the seat, continuing to stand next to Alex. A moment later, Sam approached with questions about how everything had gone. Alex began to tell about the community and everything he had done.

Wednesday, however, paid no attention to the conversations and closed her eyes, beginning to rest to restore her strength. The trip back to Portland already passed in a more talkative atmosphere, despite the fact that everyone was tired. But everyone still held the desire to return home.

To be continued...

(What a horrible day today. And it all started with my allergies getting worse. There are trees in my city that shed fluff when they bloom, which I'm allergic to. My eyes and throat are itchy because of this allergy. And I had to write this chapter with that burning sensation in my eyes and throat. Even allergy pills didn't help much. So, I'm sitting here with red, watery eyes, hoping that it will soon go away. Fuck. I'll go eat and take more meds. Peace, love, and to hell with fluff.)
