Chapter 352 Quicksilver's Hatred
Chapter 352 Quicksilver's Hatred
Chapter 352 Quicksilver's Hatred
While Nick Fury was attacked and Superman was out investigating, Iron Man wasn't idle either; he had to temporarily lock up all of them with the Green Lantern Spider-Man army.
However, he had to deal with some things first.
Eddie Brock, on a helicopter in the distance, struggled to film the entire conflict between Superman, Iron Man, and an unknown armed group using his phone.
The only drawback is the limited performance of the phone camera; the video quality is practically that of a door lock, so it certainly wouldn't be very credible to post online.
But this will be made up for, because Iron Man himself flew over.
"Look, it's Iron Man!"
Eddie was extremely excited. All his efforts to persuade Jameson, that penny-pincher, to spend a lot of money to rent a helicopter had paid off. The footage he captured made all his previous investment worthwhile.
To be honest, this was the first time Eddie had seen Iron Man's suit up close. The reason was simple: the Daily Bugle wasn't a well-known newspaper in New York, and even Tony Stark, who frequently held press conferences and made headlines, wasn't qualified to interview them.
Just as Eddie was mentally envisioning a future where he would get a promotion and a raise after airing this news segment, become the editor-in-chief, win a Pulitzer Prize, marry a beautiful and wealthy woman, and reach the pinnacle of his life, Tony interrupted Eddie's fantasy with a sour face:
"Excuse me, are you filming?"
Without a word, Tony reached out and snatched the phone from the unknown reporter's hand, crushing it into pieces with a snap.
"you--"
Eddie watched in disbelief as all the news footage he had just shot vanished along with the fragments of his phone. He had never had any particular problem with Iron Man, but this was nothing short of a blow to the head.
"Why?!"
"For no reason."
Tony clapped his hands, flicked the debris into the sea, and prepared to leave without looking back.
"You can send the equipment claim bill to Stark Industries, or should I give you the address?"
He couldn't be bothered to explain to a fringe paparazzi from a fringe newspaper, and besides, there was no way to explain these things anyway.
"What about the footage I just filmed?!" Eddie roared, furious. "Damn it, I'm a journalist! You're obstructing press freedom and preventing people from knowing the truth!"
Was Iron Man crushing Eddie's phone just now? No! It was Eddie's bright and promising future!
"Freedom of the press?" Tony turned his head and saw Eddie's face, which was flushed red with anger, but he didn't care at all.
As a prominent capitalist in both political and business circles in New York City and even North America, he could only laugh when these four words were mentioned: "Dead people don't have any freedom of the press."
Did the other party really not consider why such a big event as "Tony Stark's house was bombed" and "Iron Man is fighting with an unknown armed force" was kept so far away by those media giants?
This is a deadly political vortex. People like him and Superman can still protect themselves if they get involved, but if a small reporter like him gets involved, he won't even know how he died.
Tony glanced at the name tag on the other person's chest:
"If you delve any deeper, the truth you're telling will kill you, Mr. Eddie Brock!"
Eddie, unfazed by being named, was furious that a potentially explosive news story had been ruined, and this anger emboldened him to confront Tony.
A guy like Stark launches an attack:
"Are you threatening me with death?"
"That doesn't apply to me." Tony wouldn't take that kind of hat. "I never said that."
Despite the reporter's facade of advocating for the people, Tony knew the true nature of these types of people: their pursuit of fame and fortune outweighed their quest for the truth.
"You'd better take what I just said as a piece of advice: don't always try to make a big splash and end up losing your life."
After saying that, Tony turned and left, no longer wanting to get involved with the reporter.
He also had to direct the Green Lantern Spider-Men who came to his aid, watching them materialize some less outlandish containers to pack up and take away all the S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra agents.
"Damn it!"
Suddenly penniless, Eddie slammed his fist into the helicopter door. This action not only failed to vent his anger, but also made his joints ache.
Moreover, this action angered the flight crew, who immediately pressed the intercom button:
"Be gentle, you'll have to pay for it if you break it!"
"I—you—!" Eddie Brock was completely enraged. In his extreme anger, he chose, "Forget it, let's turn back."
Who told him to be just a junior reporter right now?
One day!
Eddie clenched his fists. If he had the chance, he would definitely take revenge on Tony Stark for the humiliation he had suffered today, a thousand times over!

"What happened just now?"
While Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. team were being transferred, Penny Parker, who, like Tony, was a mecha pilot, came over:
"Who is that? He looks really angry."
Compared to most other Spider-Men who have actually experienced Iron Man's human nature, Penny from the Edge Spider-Verse doesn't have that prejudice and is much more approachable towards Iron Man.
The main reason is that Tony only glanced at it twice and casually mentioned it, yet he helped her optimize and improve dozens of flaws in the Spider-Man suit.
"It's nothing, just someone who almost got caught in a death trap without realizing it."
Iron Man encounters three or four such people every day on average throughout his life; he's long been used to it and doesn't even bother to remember their names.
"His name seems to be Eddie—Eddie something like that? Is it Hardy?"
Instead, Penny filled in the missing name for Tony: "It's Eddie Brock."
Venom's most famous host, this name is of great significance to all Spider-Men except for Takuya Yamashiro.
Mentioning the name, a hint of regret and reminiscence flashed in Penny's eyes, but she suppressed the past, feeling that Iron Man's actions would inevitably lead to consequences sooner or later.
"Then you've probably offended someone very powerful!"
"They're just paparazzi; I offend at least thirty or forty of them a year!"
Tony, who was used to doing things his own way, didn't care about making enemies everywhere. He had a lot of experience in interrogating the news industry. What could a small reporter do to him?
Moreover, Tony is currently in a state of "the more lice, the less they itch; the more debts, the less worried":
"At least the Eddie you're talking about can't run at ten times the speed of sound, and he's certainly not holding a bomb and trying to take me down with him!"
Mentioning the young man who had spoken so arrogantly to him, Tony's already bad mood plummeted even further. No one in his life had ever dared to talk to him like that!
Tony felt he needed to find out why:
"I have some things to do, I'll meet you later."
"but--"
"Trust me, Iron Man Tony Stark doesn't make mistakes!"
So Tony broke away from the Spider-Man team, ignoring objections, and took two "passengers" with him.
The speedster whose mouth was still frozen, and the invisible woman who was pregnant.
Inside the secret base.
Professor X, who was "pushing his wheelchair around the base," had already suspended his plan to "resurrect all the X-Men."
This universe itself doesn't have the X-Men, and it doesn't even have the definition of "mutants." It's going through a turbulent time, so it's not an ideal choice.
Just as he was pondering how to seamlessly connect these people's memories from before their tragic deaths at the hands of Ultron to the new world after finding a suitable one, he sensed three familiar thoughts rapidly approaching from outside the base.
Quicksilver, Invisible Woman, and Iron Man.
With a thought, the cloning chambers inside the base were sealed and hidden under Professor X's orders. The next second, Iron Man rushed in from the flight tunnel and threw Quicksilver, which he was carrying, to the ground.
Realizing he was no longer under control, Quicksilver pretended to be exhausted and was overjoyed after waiting for his chance for so long.
He leaped into the air and sprinted forward, his figure blurring into a ghostly streak. He grabbed a sharp piece of gravel from beneath his feet and aimed it straight for Tony's throat.
"Go to hell!"
This Tony Stark is so arrogant, without Superman here, let's see who can save his life this time!
The next millisecond later, Quicksilver witnessed the most unbelievable scene: Tony Stark, clad in his Iron Man suit, reacted and acted at the same speed as him, swatting away the deadly sharp rock and slamming the unresponsive Quicksilver to the ground.
"I bet you didn't think of that."
With the Amorandum Core functioning normally, and having mimicked Quicksilver's speed, Tony used the same ability but with a more advanced strategy to defeat his opponent.
After watching the whole thing, Professor X felt like his PTSD was about to relapse, because the function of Tony's Amozzo suit was exactly the same as the Sentinel robots' ability to mimic the X-gene and acquire the same superpowers.
With a wave of his hand, Professor X tried to disperse the crowd: "You shouldn't have brought them here."
If just anyone is brought in, will this secret base still have any secrets left?
"It's my base, my rules." Tony shrugged and tossed Quicksilver into a cell strong enough to hold a Kryptonian.
"Behave yourself! Wait for me to come back!"
After quickly settling the Invisible Woman, who was on the verge of a mental breakdown, Tony returned in a flash.
He needed to know why this speedster harbored such deep hatred for him.
A word of advice—I recommend you don't ask.
Professor X slowly pushed his wheelchair, preparing to leave this dangerous place. He already knew why Quicksilver was so desperate to kill Iron Man:
"You don't want to know."
