Chapter 203 - The Return of Strength (I)

The White Healing Ointment.

Cassius believed that repairing this battered body was of utmost importance. During the sparring match with the Singing Water Sect yesterday, he could tell his body's condition had severely hindered his fist techniques, limiting his potential to only about fifty percent. Although he came out victorious, they had exchanged many blows, indicating they were on a similar combat level with Cassius's strength being only slightly superior.@@@@

Taking advantage of the brilliant sunlight streaming through the window, Cassius opened the jar of ointment. Inside was a thick, milky-white paste that resembled yogurt but of a more viscous consistency. The thick faint minty aroma suggested it contained a mint-like herb.

The ointment was not meant for topical use but to be ingested directly. The master of the Singing Water Martial Arts Hall was very clear on the specific dosage: a martial artist who had not yet broken through human limits should consume only a small spoonful, while those who had broken through could take up to a third of the jar.

Cassius did exactly that and took several spoonfuls. To his surprise, it was quite smooth and not unpleasant to eat. It left a cool sensation in his throat and a refreshing minty taste in his mouth, with a lingering sweetness from the remaining ointment.

He stood still and waited. Three minutes passed by.

There was a chill in Cassius's chest as if a cold stream of air was slowly emanating from within. It spread quickly from his internal organs outward, primarily through his muscles, tendons, and blood vessels. It was gradual but possessed a strong determination to cover his entire body. Sensing the ointment had taken effect, Cassius quickly submerged himself in the barrel.

The water was not scalding and was warm as it enveloped his entire body.

Instantly, he experienced a sensation akin to being in two extremes: hot water covered him on the outside, while coldness spread slowly within. The sensations were contradictory, alternating between making him feel hot and cold.

Time passed. Cassius suddenly felt a sharp pain inside, but it didn't last long as it quickly transformed into relief, like a blocked pipe being unclogged by a metal rod.

This process seemed to indicate the ointment was repairing his internal injuries. This sensation of initial pain followed by relief, happened multiple times—at least seven to eight times, meaning Li Wei had several old injuries and persistent ailments.

About half an hour later, the hot water had cooled, and the previously clear water had turned a faint red with some solid black substances floating on the surface—impurities expelled from his open pores.

Water splashed over as Cassius stood up from the barrel and inspected his body. It was still as gaunt and scarred as before and looked like a poorly cut piece of meat. However, his muscles were no longer that pale and had a slightly more vibrant, pink hue. For a moment, Cassius felt his body had become much lighter.

He stepped out of the barrel and casually performed a set of punches. His movements were smoother, and his joints more flexible.

Yes, the ointment was healing the old wounds in Li Wei’s body, but whether it could repair his life potential remained to be seen. It might take several more doses to see any significant effect.

Instantly, a series of cracking sounds echoed from every joint in his body. He slowly extended his arms, folding them in front of his chest. His legs spread apart into a horse stance. As he held the stance, Cassius felt his muscles and bones slowly writhing and becoming more solid. It was as if a healing vitality was licking his wounds. It was brewing gently, just waiting to burst forth.

The upper-level constitution had been achieved!

It was about a notch lower than Cassius's original talent when he had been at the upper-intermediate level; not good but still remarkable.

With such talent, there was still hope for the future!

Cassius stepped out of the barrel and checked the time. It was already nearing six in the evening, so he decided to take a brief rest. It wasn't like a bucket of sand had the same time restrictions like hot water cooling or ice melting.

Cassius immediately got to work, tidying up the items in the private room, and emptying and cleaning the two barrels. He then went to the kitchen and prepared dinner. Around a half hour later, he went upstairs to call the two people in the study for dinner.

The hall was brightly lit, and the white curtains not drawn over the window on the left side showed a view of the sidewalk outside where occasionally, a few chatting people in light clothing strolled by. The faint sound of cars passing by could also be heard.

The table was set with a rather lavish dinner.

A rich, oily aroma wafted out from the pan-seared grilled fish, the oil was especially noticeable against the white porcelain plate. The crispy fish skin was dusted with cumin and seasoning, revealing tender white flesh in the cracks. Beside it was a plate of braised beef chunks, cooked until they were practically falling apart. There were also creamy cauliflower soup, mashed potatoes, and fried pork hocks covered in vegetables. Several large white loaves of bread stood in the center, nearly the size of a person's face. Cassius had bought these soft, delicious loaves with a faint milky scent from a nearby bakery.

Toma and Xiala ate with great relish. Because they often traveled with Li Wei, their meals were usually not that good. Even mushroom soup was a treat, let alone a table crammed full of dishes like this.

Toma took a bite of the pork hock, his mouth full of grease, and a piece of meat fell onto the table. He remembered the table manners his uncle had taught him and felt a bit embarrassed.

Coughing, he looked up, only to see Cassius eating even more voraciously than he was, polishing off a hefty pork hock in just a few bites. It was like he hadn’t eaten in days. Toma paused for a moment, then smiled quietly to himself.

He wasn't sure if it was his imagination, but his uncle's face seemed rosier and livelier now, and he no longer looked as weak and in pain as he had before. He prayed silently that his uncle could maintain this state before lowering his head to sip his soup.

By 7:30 p.m., he was back in the same private room. The light was on, and Cassius closed the door behind him. He walked to the table and picked up a transparent bottle on the far right. It contained a layer of pure, clear blue liquid—about half a bottle's worth.

This was the Bone-Devouring Water, a prized item from the Golden Fist Sect. It was said that when consumed by someone without any prior resistance, it could greatly enhance their physique, although the degree of enhancement varied from person to person.

For someone like Li Wei, who had already reached the second-level accelerated blood flow, it was unrealistic to expect immediate progress to the third level. Such a leap was wishful thinking—unless the Golden Fist Sect was willing to provide Cassius with ten bottles of the stuff and he chugged it like it was some kind of drink. Yes, maybe that would make a difference.
