Chapter 302: Laughter in the Time Vortex

When Lily and Long Yuchen came back to their senses from the dazzling light, they found themselves no longer in the desolate land in front of the stone tablet, but in a colorful world. The sky was made up of countless clock gears, each of which was turning slowly, making a ticking sound, like the whisper of time.

"Where is this?" Lily rubbed her eyes, marveling at the wonders around her. The world before her was like a grand kaleidoscope show, with different light and shadow changes at every step.

Long Yuchen frowned and said, "We seem to have entered the core of time. This place is like a huge vortex of time."

Suddenly, a light laughter came from above their heads. The two looked up and found a clown in extremely funny clothes sitting on a huge gear, winking and smiling at them. The clown's clothes were colorful, his face was covered with thick white foundation, and the corners of his mouth were exaggeratedly raised, revealing a row of big white teeth.

"Joker?!" Lily's eyes widened. She obviously didn't expect to meet such a character in this place.

The clown jumped off the gear, landed lightly on the ground, and bowed deeply: "Welcome to the time vortex, I am the master here - the time clown."

"Time Clown? Who are you?" Long Yuchen asked vigilantly.

The clown grinned, with a sly look in his eyes. "Me? I am a part of time, and the guide of your journey. As for my mission, it is to create a little trouble for you and see how capable you are."

Lily's heart sank, obviously knowing that this clown was no simple person.

"What do you want to do?" Lily asked warily.

The clown snapped his fingers, and the gears around him started spinning rapidly, and the entire space began to distort. The clown spun lightly in the air for a few circles and then stopped, saying leisurely: "I don't want to do anything, I just want to see if you can find a way out of this maze of time. Oh, by the way, there is a small challenge - you must find the exit before the time runs out, otherwise you will be trapped here forever."

"Are you threatening us?" Long Yuchen said coldly.

The clown chuckled: "Threat? No, no, no, this is just the rule of the game. Good luck to you, I'll be watching." After that, his figure suddenly blurred and disappeared among the rotating gears.

"We have to find the exit quickly." Long Yuchen pulled Lily and started running forward.

They ran in this dreamlike world, where every gear was like a huge clock, seemingly accelerating, and the passage of time became particularly strange in this space. The two ran while observing the changes in their surroundings, trying to find a way to escape.

"Long Yuchen, do you feel that these gears are guiding us in something?" Lily suddenly stopped and carefully observed the trajectory of the gears.

Long Yuchen nodded: "Yes, these gears seem to be running according to some rules, maybe we can find a way out according to their running direction."

The two quickly analyzed the operating pattern of the gears and found that at certain moments, the gears would be arranged in a special pattern, as if guiding the direction they were going.

"We have to pass through that pattern at the right moment, otherwise we might be trapped." Lily took a deep breath and took a step forward with Long Yuchen.

As they approached the pattern, the gears around them sped up, and the passage of time became unpredictable. The two hurried through the gaps between the gears, and were about to pass through the maze when suddenly a huge pendulum fell from the sky, blocking their way.

"Damn it!" Long Yuchen gritted his teeth, gripped his sword tightly, and prepared to fight.

However, the pendulum stopped in front of them and did not move forward. A line of ancient text appeared in the middle of the pendulum, as if waiting for them to decipher it.

Lily looked closely and found that it was a puzzle: "If you don't break the rhythm of the pendulum, time will stop forever. What does it mean?"

Long Yuchen pondered for a moment, and suddenly his eyes lit up: "The pendulum is a symbol of time, and its swing means the passage of time. We must restore its normal rhythm so that time will continue to flow."

"So what should we do?" Lily asked.

Long Yuchen looked at the pendulum, and suddenly reached out and gently touched the center of the pendulum, and the pendulum immediately began to swing slowly. As the pendulum recovered, the surrounding gears also began to resume normal operation, and the passage ahead gradually opened.

"We succeeded!" Lily said excitedly.

"But this is just the beginning." Long Yuchen said cautiously, pulling Lily forward.

Just when they thought there was a smooth road ahead, the space suddenly shook violently, and a huge black hole appeared in front of them. The howling wind pulled the two into the darkness.

"Ah--!" Lily and Long Yuchen screamed at the same time. Their bodies were involuntarily sucked into the black hole and they lost control of their surroundings.

When they opened their eyes again, they found themselves suspended in a pitch-black void. There was nothing around them, only faint whispers coming from the darkness.

"Where are we again?" Lily felt a sense of fear. Everything here was too weird.

"This may be a rift in time, where all the forgotten fragments of time converge." Long Yuchen tried to remain calm, but his tone could not hide his uneasiness.

Just then, the whispering gradually became clearer, and a familiar voice came from the darkness.

"Welcome to the Land of Oblivion, the destination of all memories and fragments abandoned by time." The voice was that of the Time Clown, and his figure appeared in front of the two again.

"What do you want to do!" Lily asked unbearably.

The clown smiled and said, "I don't want to do anything. I just want to see if you can find the lost time. Everything here is fragments abandoned by time. Maybe you can find something interesting here."

Lily and Long Yuchen looked at each other, knowing that this challenge was far from over.

"What should we do?" Lily asked.

"We must find these forgotten fragments and piece together a complete timeline." Long Yuchen replied with a determined light in his eyes.

They began to search in the darkness, every step was like walking on thin ice. The darkness around them seemed to have life, ready to swallow them up at any time.

Finally, they stopped in front of a broken mirror, which showed some fragments of their past, but also had many blank spaces.

"These are the forgotten fragments of time." Long Yuchen said.

"We need to get them back." Lily nodded.

They began to look for fragments of time scattered in the darkness. Every time they found a piece, the image in the mirror would have one more part. The whole process was like a puzzle, but each piece was difficult to capture, and sometimes it would suddenly disappear before their eyes.

After some effort, they finally pieced all the pieces together, and the image in the mirror became clear. It turned out to be the entire process from entering the maze to the present.

"Are we done yet?" Lily asked.

The Time Clown reappeared with an elusive smile on his face: "You are close to the truth, but the secret of time is far more than that. Next, see if you can find the end of time."

As the clown finished speaking, the darkness began to gradually recede, and Lily and Long Yuchen were once again caught in a dazzling light and disappeared into the void.
