Chapter 1157: What Status?

A servant disciple.

Ye Guan didn't give it much thought. At this point, having any sort of job, even as a cleaner, was a good deal for him. After all, this job came with food and lodging, which were things he needed right now.

Under the man's guidance, Ye Guan walked through the garden and entered a large library.

"Your job is to clean the library every day. Remember... " The young man pointed to a specific area of the library and said, "That area is your responsibility. You need to clean it daily."@@@@

He then handed a badge over to Ye Guan.

Ye Guan took the badge. "Understood."

The man didn't say anything more and turned to leave.

Ye Guan looked around the library. It was vast and could hold tens of thousands of people. On the left side were rows and rows of bookshelves, and there was a reading area on the right. Many people were quietly reading, and judging by their attire, most of them were students.

Ye Guan got to work. He was quick, and by the time evening came, he had already finished cleaning the area he was responsible for cleaning every day.

Afterward, he started browsing the books. His main goal was to learn more about this Abandoned Continent, and reading was the fastest way to do so.

After a while, Ye Guan finally gained a clear understanding of the Abandoned Continent.

A long time ago, the Abandoned Continent was called the Cangwu Continent.

At that time, the Cangwu Continent was a decent place to live, with plenty of cultivators. It couldn't compare to the Guanxuan Universe in strength, but it was still comparable to Qingzhou.

However, the spiritual energy of the continent ended up getting exhausted, leading to numerous natural disasters.

Gradually, the land became inhospitable.

As a result, the top-tier cultivators and forces of the Cangwu Continent began leaving one by one. They left for another planet, where they established a new home known as the Heavenly World.

The weak and those at the bottom of society were left behind.

To those elites, these people had no value, so they were abandoned.

In any civilization, those at the bottom of society were either exploited or discarded.

The Cangwu Continent was now known as the Abandoned Continent. There were still some remaining forces and families, with the Temple Academy and the Heavenly Capital being the strongest powers.

It was said that the Temple Academy and the Heavenly Capital could still contact the Heavenly World, and if people from the Abandoned Continent wanted to leave, they had to rely on one of those two forces.

For those at the bottom of this world, the only way to change their fate was to join one of those two organizations.

The martial arts system in this world was relatively simple.

It was divided into nine levels. After reaching the ninth level, one would reach the King Level. Above that, there were Martial Masters and then Great Martial Masters. A Martial Master in this world was considered incredibly powerful.

However, the cultivation of this world was underdeveloped. A Great Martial Master was only equivalent to the Truth Realm in the Guanxuan Universe, or perhaps even weaker than that.

When Ye Guan was done reading, it was already evening.

The servant disciples ate in the Temple Canteen, a dedicated dining hall for servant disciples and servants.

When Ye Guan arrived at the Temple Canteen, he found a crowd of people busy eating. He queued up to get his meal. Since the food was free, it wasn't great. It was mostly cheap vegetables with no meat, just enough to fill the stomach.

Ye Guan squatted down to sit.

Someone beside him suddenly said, "Look, she's here again."

Ye Guan turned and saw a woman in the distance, standing in line for the food.

He was taken aback, as the woman was none other than Zhu Xingran. She was holding a plate and was standing quietly behind a servant disciple in the queue.

Why did she come here to eat?

Ye Guan simply brushed his hands and turned away.

The young boy suddenly got up.

With a face covered in blood, he looked at Ye Guan viciously. "Just wait, I'll—"

Ye Guan turned around to look at him.

The boy picked up a chair and was about to throw it at Ye Guan.

However, Ye Guan punched him in the face first.

Bam!

The boy fell to the ground.

Ye Guan dusted his hands and left.

Everyone was dumbfounded as they watched him leave.

Soon, Ye Guan arrived at the living quarters, and he was a little annoyed by the living conditions. As a servant disciple, he didn't have his own room and had to squeeze in with dozens of people in a small room.

He left and went to the Temple Library.

The library was much more suitable for sleeping, and he could read books, too.

Although it was already late at night, there were still many people reading books.

Ye Guan pretended to be cleaning for a while before sitting in a corner to read an ancient book. It was interesting. It turned out to be a book of sword techniques, and there were even depictions of Sword Manipulation. However, it was incomplete.

He found a pen and decided to improve the book for fun.

Little Pagoda asked, "Have you ever thought about your father's debt here?"

Upon hearing that, Ye Guan's expression immediately darkened. He had to admit that his father's actions were rather immoral. It was one thing for him to owe a debt, but making his son pay it back? It was simply outrageous!

However, he was also curious about his father's debt. He thought for a moment and said, "Given my father's strength, he probably doesn't owe money. It's more likely that he owes someone a personal favor."

"That seems to be the case," Little Pagoda replied.

Ye Guan shook his head. "No matter. I'll take things step by step. My father will sometimes cause trouble out of boredom, but my aunt will never do that. She must have a deeper reason for sending me here. In any case, I need to handle this well. I can't disappoint her."

"You must handle it well. My rise to power depends on you."

Ye Guan sighed inwardly.

"Hello!"

Ye Guan heard a sudden voice coming from the side. He turned his head and froze upon seeing a lady dressed in a snow-white robe. Her features were stunning, and she was radiating both grace and strength.

She was Long Dai—the same lady he saw outside the city.

Long Dai was smiling at him.

"I'm looking for a book. The one you're holding. Can I borrow it for a moment?"

Ye Guan hesitated before discreetly tucking the pen in his hand into his sleeve.

He then smiled and agreed, handing the incomplete ancient book to her.

Long Dai accepted the book with a smile and thanked him.

"You're welcome," Ye Guan responded. He then grabbed a broom and left.

Long Dai sat down. She took out a pen and started flipping through the ancient book. After reading it for awhile, her expression changed dramatically. She looked up and stared at Ye Guan's retreating figure in astonishment.

"Damn, this is impressive!"
