Chapter 172 Boosting Levels
Chapter 172 Boosting Levels
"Ah, I think I should start training Nyx now," Arlon said, glancing up at the sky.
They had already traveled more than halfway to their next destination when he decided it was finally time.
Nyx had been soaring above them the entire time, her sleek form blending seamlessly with the sky, but training her required more than just flight.

At his call, Nyx responded immediately. She drifted downward with a slow, controlled descent, spiraling like a feather caught in the wind.
Her wings barely made a sound as she landed gracefully on the ground.
Arlon reached out, running a hand over her smooth scales before speaking. "Nyx, the next time we encounter a monster, you'll be the one to handle it—after I incapacitate it."
Nyx tilted her head, her intelligent eyes watching him closely.
His plan was simple but effective. He would weaken the enemy first, ensuring that Nyx had a safe opportunity to finish it off.
It was a direct and structured way to train her instincts—similar to how the Keldars raised their young.
Keldars had a method of teaching intelligence through direct experience.
They spoon-fed their children experience points by allowing them to finish off enemies that had already been rendered helpless. It was brutal but efficient.
Arlon didn't know that this was exactly how the Keldars trained their own, but even without that knowledge, he had arrived at the same conclusion on his own.
June, however, wasn't entirely convinced. She frowned slightly, her gaze shifting from Nyx to Arlon. "Do you think it's okay to make her kill?"
Arlon turned to look at her, noting the concern in her voice.
She understood the necessity of battle, but even so, she hesitated.
It was easy to think of Nyx as just another creature of Trion, but she had the intelligence and awareness of a child.
June had struggled when she first had to take a life. Even now, she still carried some hesitation.
The idea of forcing that experience onto Nyx—even if she was a dragon—felt unsettling.
"This is the only way," Arlon replied, his tone firm but not unkind. "Besides, I don't think I should raise her like someone from Earth."
June bit her lip, but she didn't argue.
Arlon had already become indifferent to killing Keldars. He had done it before, and he could do it again without hesitation.
For a few moments, there was only silence.
Then, Nyx's body pulsed faintly as golden light surrounded her—her level increasing for the first time.
Arlon opened her status window.
Nyx – Level 4
Her stats had increased significantly, her body already adapting to her new strength.
"It's ironic," Arlon said, a smirk forming on his lips. "We both killed wolf-type Keldars to level up."
June raised an eyebrow. "Huh. I didn't even think about that." She crossed her arms. "So, how does she feel? She doesn't seem... shocked by it."
Arlon glanced at Nyx, who was still staring at the remains of the Keldar. Unlike a human, she didn't react with hesitation or unease—she simply accepted it. This was natural for her.
"She understands," Arlon said simply. "She's a dragon. Killing isn't foreign to her instincts. But she still needs to learn how to do it properly."
June exhaled. "I guess that makes sense... Still, I thought she'd be a little more attached to you. I mean, she only listens to you, right?"
Nyx turned her head toward June at that moment.
For the first time, she took a step closer—not toward Arlon, but toward June. She tilted her head, studying her for a moment before letting out a low, satisfied rumble.
June blinked in surprise. "Wait... was that a good sound?"
Arlon was also taken aback. Nyx had always adhered strictly to him. She never really acknowledged anyone else. But now, she was showing a level of comfort with June.
For some reason, that realization made Arlon feel... relieved. He wasn't sure why.
"Yeah," he said finally, a small, genuine smile forming on his lips. "She likes you."
June tilted her head. "Really? Huh." She grinned. "I was sure she'd be the jealous type. Also, didn't she talk before? Why didn't she talk today?"
"I told her not to talk in front of others since she could say something dangerous. I also don't want people to know her intelligence.
No matter what, she was intelligent at level 1. So we can't think of her as a random monster. I will make sure to let her talk to you later, though."
Nyx let out another small sound, nudging her snout toward June before stepping back to Arlon's side.
June chuckled. "Well, I'm honored."
Arlon watched the interaction silently. He wasn't entirely sure why he was so relieved that Nyx liked June. But he didn't question it too much.@@@@
