Chapter 100 Had Betty had a change of heart? Part2
When Michael arrived at Betty's door, he hesitated for a long time but finally knocked softly, perhaps knowing that Betty wasn't asleep.
After knocking a few times without any response, Michael knocked again, but still no sound came from inside.
Eventually, he placed his hand on the doorknob, only to find the door was locked from the inside.
This scene felt eerily familiar; there had been a time when Betty had knocked on Michael's door only to be turned away.
Now, the roles were reversed.
Michael wasn't worried that Betty might harm herself over this; it wasn't a matter serious enough to warrant such drastic measures.
Yet, fear and disappointment filled his eyes as he realized the gravity of the situation he had created.
Upon discovering the door was locked, Michael knocked again, this time with more force.
The sound echoed through the house, but all that came back were the sounds of Betty shifting in bed and the creak of the mattress.
Michael knew Betty was awake and aware of his presence, yet she didn't come to open the door.
As Michael raised his hand to knock once more, he hesitated, his fingers stopping just inches from the door.
After a long pause, he let his hand fall and sighed, knowing Betty wouldn't come out tonight.
He slowly walked back to his own bedroom.
Inside her room, Betty hesitated when she heard Michael knocking.
She debated whether to open the door, especially if Michael was there to talk or apologize.
However, she was unsure if his intentions were purely aggressive, which made her reluctant to face him.
After a long internal struggle, she decided not to open the door.
The night passed in silence, setting the stage for a sleepless night for both.
It was uncertain how they would face each other in the morning and who would be the first to compromise.
If Michael compromised, would he abandon his disrespectful desires towards Betty?
If Betty gave in, would she allow him to be intimate, even with protection?
If neither compromised, would Michael still go to school obediently the next day, or would he resort to his usual tactics of evasion?
When everything was done, Betty returned to her bedroom, hesitating whether to go to Michael's room to either tutor him or to continue their previous intimate encounters.
Meanwhile, Michael, while working on his assignments, listened carefully for any sounds outside his door, occasionally looking back, hoping Betty would enter his room like before, to help with his studies and perhaps share a tender moment.
Both were caught in a dilemma.
Betty's hesitation was not without reason; Michael's behavior today was unexpectedly submissive, which threw her off.
She had expected a cold war, using their old methods, but his sudden compliance left her unsure of how to proceed.
After much thought, Betty sighed.
Since Michael had softened, her goal was achieved.
She knew that continuing to distance herself from him if he had truly changed would only worsen the situation, potentially leading to more severe issues.
Betty finally changed into her pajamas, turned off her bedroom light, and walked towards Michael's room.
On the other side, Michael glanced at the clock, realizing it was past the usual time Betty would visit his room.
He felt she wouldn't come tonight and, feeling dejected, put down his pen, seemingly losing the motivation to continue studying.
His eyes conveyed helplessness and a hint of regret.
Just as he was about to give up and rest, Betty unexpectedly pushed open his door.
Michael, who had slumped in disappointment, instantly straightened up as if injected with adrenaline.
He quickly picked up his pen again, pretending to be deep in thought.
Betty pinched her nose, suppressing the awkwardness in her heart and on her face, then naturally sat on Michael's bed.
She casually picked up Michael's homework and scrutinized it carefully, while Michael appeared somewhat tense and nervous.
He had thought Betty wouldn't come, and her presence brought him an unexpected joy.
He seemed eager to maintain this slowly improving atmosphere, so he waited earnestly for her review.
After a while, Betty nodded slightly, clearly satisfied.
Michael's overall performance today was better than before, not worse, which gave Betty a sense of taking the initiative.
"Do you have any questions you need to ask me?" Betty asked after setting down the homework, still dressed in her modest pajamas.
