Genshin Impact: One Soul in Two Bodies

Chapter 578 - 578: Should I go tell Ningguang?

Chapter 578 - 578: Should I go tell Ningguang?

Mobius?Mobius was the one who told him?

No, wait...

He was the one who told Mobius...

No, no, that's not right either...

Mobius already knew.

Ugh...

Why did this keep getting more and more tangled the more she thought about it?!

After the initial shock wore off, Keqing found herself thoroughly turned around.

Still, she quickly latched onto one conviction: that Fatui executive had almost certainly gotten into bed with Mobius — figuratively speaking. When it came to the Fatui, anyone who knew anything knew that much. No need to overthink it.

But...

Should she burst out there and arrest someone right now?

The thought sent her into a deep, unmoving silence.

No matter how she looked at it, she had no evidence yet — and whoever was out there clearly wasn't someone to be taken lightly. Moving in directly would almost certainly set off a confrontation.

"So how did you find out?" Just then, the conversation drifting in from up ahead pulled Keqing out of her spiraling thoughts.

Fine.

Better to just keep listening and see what else they had to say...

With that, Keqing quietly let go of the idea of charging out there.

"Has Mobius actually appeared?" Watching Childe, Miko followed up with another question.

She couldn't help it — what Childe had just said had genuinely caught her off guard.

She hadn't expected Mobius to already know about Kaito's plan.

Sure, the plan falling through wasn't the end of the world — but if Mobius knew about that, it meant there were likely other things she knew about too.

She must have been eavesdropping.

This little brat has absolutely no sense of fair play...

Recalling what Kaito had described of Mobius, Miko couldn't help but think exactly that.

Not that she was particularly surprised — if Mobius had the option to eavesdrop, of course she would.

Besides, Kaito hadn't seen Mobius in quite a long time now. Who could say what kind of changes she might have gone through.

"That's right — I did meet with Mobius." Under the combined gaze of Miko and Lumine, Childe gave a slow, measured nod.

Miko's next question is definitely going to be when I met her...

I'll just say it was just now.

Before Miko could ask, Childe was already quietly calculating his answer in the back of his mind.

He knew one thing for certain: he absolutely could not say it had been yesterday.

Because if he did, the fact that he'd waited until today instead of coming immediately would seem very strange indeed.

"When did she show up? And did she say anything else?" It was Lumine who asked.

She was shaken too — and honestly worried about Kaito's situation.

After all, if Mobius already knew about his plan, she'd almost certainly be making moves of her own.

Looks like neither of them caught anything off...

But they don't know where Kaito is either...

That's going to be a problem.

Turning it over quietly in his head, Childe spoke up: "Just now — and I came straight here the moment she did. But by then, Kaito had already left. I assumed he was still down at the docks, so I barely had time to say anything before I had to rush back down there."

Since he hadn't shown any particular urgency when he'd arrived earlier, he was doing some damage control now.

He was aware it was probably too little too late — but what else could he do? He had to try, and hope that Lumine and Miko hadn't already picked up on the inconsistency.

Oh, right.

Miko hadn't been out here earlier...

That thought brought him a small, quiet breath of relief.

If Miko had been present just now, he'd have been in real trouble.

Of course, even with just Lumine there, it was still entirely possible she'd noticed that his story didn't quite line up with how he'd been acting.

"And that was all she said?" Miko asked, sounding somewhat puzzled.

Mobius had stayed hidden all this time — so the fact that she'd chosen to reveal herself now surely meant more than just this.

"Yes — she told me she already knew about Kaito's plan, and asked me to come pass it along." Childe replied slowly, meeting Miko's skeptical look.

He couldn't deny it — he was a little tense right now. His story had more holes in it than he'd have liked, and it all came down to whether the two of them would actually notice.

"That does make things complicated. We don't even know where Kaito is right now." Miko murmured, half to herself, her expression distant — clearly turning something else over in her mind.

"My guess is Mobius has probably already gone to find him." Lumine offered her read on the situation.

The way she saw it: Mobius knew the plan, which meant there was a very real chance she'd go straight to Kaito directly.

After all, he was the whole reason she was here — and right now, Kaito was most likely alone.

Looks like neither of them noticed anything...

But if they don't know where Kaito is either...

This really is a problem.

Thinking it through quietly, Childe spoke: "Yeah. I think we're going to have to go find Mr. Zhongli — he might know where Kaito is right now."

Since neither Miko nor Lumine knew where Kaito had gone, the only person Childe could think to pin his hopes on was Mr. Zhongli.

And at the mention of Zhongli, the Keqing who had been listening in from her hiding spot gave a small, involuntary jolt.

Mr. Zhongli?

How did he end up mixed up in all this?

She hadn't expected that Mr. Zhongli from Wangsheng — knowledgeable as he was — would be involved in something like this. He was, at the end of the day, an ordinary man. The fact that he was caught up in any of this was genuinely surprising.

Then again, that Childe did seem to only be here to pass on a message...

But...

Was that really all it was?

Given his affiliation with the Fatui, Keqing had maintained a steady, unbroken suspicion of Childe from the very beginning.

She couldn't help it — that was just how you had to approach the Fatui.

Suspect first, regardless of whether they'd done anything. That principle had never steered her wrong, and she wasn't about to abandon it now.

Oh, right.

Should she go find Ningguang and fill her in?

But then — would it be a problem to just leave that Fatui executive alone with the other two?

The question nagged at her.

No matter what, she couldn't just stand by and watch those two get played by a Fatui executive.

Of course, it was also possible things weren't heading that way at all.

"Then let's go find Mr. Zhongli first."

While Keqing was still wrestling with herself, the others had already set off to find Zhongli.

Fine...

She'd keep watching a little longer and see if anything went wrong...

If nothing did, she'd go find Ningguang and tell her what she knew.

Deciding to keep trailing them for now, Keqing followed the group all the way to Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.

Oh, wait...

Why was she even doing this...

Miko was way stronger than her...

The realization hit Keqing all at once as she crouched in her hiding spot, and she felt herself go a little red in the face.

At least she was alone. Nobody was around to see how embarrassing this was.
