Chapter 478: The Meeting
Chapter 478: The Meeting
When dinner was done, Lin Xian Qi said to them, "Come to my room.
"I have something to discuss with the four of you."
Xue Cong and the other three concubines glanced at each other, not knowing what he wanted to tell them.
They nodded their heads at him and followed him back to his room.
Along the way, all of them were in different thoughts.
Xue Cong tried to recall if she had done anything wrong recently but came up blank.
Yue Jie and Yue Xin were also wondering if they had angered him.
And behind them, Liu Shi Shi pretended to be nonchalant but was secretly thinking that it would be about the spring outing.
They entered the room and closed the doors behind them.
"So, what is this about..." Xue Cong, as the wife and head mistress of the clan, stepped forward and asked.
Lin Xuan Qi took a seat beside the tea table and said, "It’s a huge and important issue.
"There would be a huge problem if we don’t discuss how I spend the night with the four of you."
"How you spend the night with us?" The four of them frowned and glanced at each other.
Yue Xin began her usual imaginative trip, thinking that maybe he wanted to spend the night together with the four of them at one go...
Yue Jie, who was beside Yue Xin, shook her head and rolled her eyes when she saw Yue Xin blushing.
"There are only so many days in a week and I wouldn’t want the four of you to feel bad about each other if I spent more time with some of you." Lin Xuan Qi explained his rationale and they nodded their heads.
It was indeed something that they did need to talk about when he put it that way.
"But how?" Yue Jie asked while she tried to think about how to distribute the days among themselves.
Xue Cong, Yue Xin and Liu Shi Shi nodded their heads in unison.
"For the first four days, I shall spend it with Xue Cong, Yue Jie, Yue Xin then Shi Shi."
When he saw that they had no issues with it, he continued and said, "As for the other three days, you will have to schedule it among yourselves and rotate with one of you resting for a week in the month."
"I can do that." Yue Jie nodded her head and volunteered to do it.
"Great." Lin Xuan Qi said and let out a sigh of relief silently.
Thankfully, it went more smoothly than he had expected.
He was certainly blessed to have them as his wife and concubines.
"And since it’s Monday today, I shall spend the night with Xue Cong tonight." Lin Xuan Qi said and the four of them gave him a nod.
"Then, stop standing over there and join me for tea." He gestured at them with his hand for them to join him and they did.
Yue Jie poured a cup of tea for everyone and they chatted about other things while they had tea.
It was also a rare occasion for them to spend time together with him.
"The weather is cold now, are you taking the herbs and soup I’ve instructed the kitchen to make for you?" Lin Xuan Qi asked casually, trying to not let the others know of his intent.
"We already did and I’ve supervised them to make sure that they took it." Xue Cong said and glanced over at Yue Xin.
Yue Xin pouted as she recalled the bitterness of some of the herbal soup.
That got Lin Xuan Qi reassured and they continued to chat about other matters.
Night descended quickly with the short winter day.
The gong and the shouts of the nightwatchman sounded loud in the distance, telling the residents to be mindful of fire hazards in the winter.
...
Next day.
Lin Xuan Qi woke up early and had breakfast quickly.
He had an idea about the rice noodle food stalls or eateries and he wanted to try it out.
Right now, he could let the other workers learn how to cook the dishes but there might still be variance in the quality.
It might be due to the differences in ingredients or skills of the workers, even after the training.
So he had an idea on how to minimize the differences in quality.
With the soup, if he could make it centrally and change it into a form that was easily portable, he could then supply the soup base to the food stalls and eateries.
That would ensure that the recipe of the soup could be kept a secret and also make the quality of the rice noodle soup consistent among the different food stalls and eateries.
And that would need some experimentation on his part.
"Auntie Sue, I need you to boil a big pot of the rice noodle soup." Lin Xuan Qi said and Auntie Sue nodded her head.
"Yes, Master Lin. I will get it done as soon as possible."
He got out of the kitchen and went looking for Old Shao next.
Lin Xuan Qi wondered if he could have a portable food stall made so that he could have some trial runs selling the dishes that Auntie Sue had come up with.
He drew a very rudimentary form of how the food stall cart should look like and it didn’t take long for Old Shao to understand what he wanted.
"We should be able to get it done within two days." Old Shao said and his men nodded their heads.
They didn’t have much to do after they were done with the factories and rice noodle shop and they were itching for more work to be done.
"Then, I shall leave it to you, father-in-law."
Old Shao gave him a smile and said, "Go and get busy while I finish this up."
Lin Xuan Qi nodded his head and he headed for his lab.
Along the way, he pondered on what Old Shao meant by getting busy.
Did Old Shao mean that he should get busy with Xue Cong...
