Chapter 134: Intimate Night
Chapter 134: Intimate Night
The soft glow of the moon filtered through the large window of the guest room, casting pale light over the elegant furnishings. Matthew Hesh lay on the plush bed, his arms folded behind his head as he stared at the ceiling. The events of the evening played through his mind—Amber’s smile, her words, the way she had opened up to him. He felt an unfamiliar sense of calm as his eyelids grew heavy, and soon, he drifted into a deep sleep.
Hours passed in silence, the estate quiet save for the occasional rustle of leaves outside. The warmth of the bed and the serenity of the moment lulled Matthew into a peaceful rest. But then, a faint creak from the door went unnoticed.
Matthew stirred, feeling an unfamiliar weight pressing down on his chest. His brows furrowed as his body registered the sensation. Slowly, his eyes fluttered open, adjusting to the dim light. What he saw jolted him fully awake.
Amber Fitzwilliam was perched atop him, her hands resting gently on his chest, her hair cascading over her shoulders. She wore a soft, flowing nightgown, and her face was serene, illuminated by the moonlight.
"Amber?" Matthew’s voice was low, filled with disbelief. "What are you doing?"
Amber tilted her head, a small, almost mischievous smile on her lips. "I couldn’t sleep," she said simply, as if her actions were perfectly reasonable.@@@@
"That’s not an excuse to climb on top of me," Matthew replied, his tone both stern and bewildered. He shifted, trying to sit up and move her aside, but Amber resisted, her hands pressing lightly against his shoulders.
"Don’t," she said softly. "Just... let me stay like this for a moment."
Matthew stilled, his mind racing. "Amber, this isn’t appropriate. You shouldn’t be here—like this."
They sat in silence, the weight of the moment settling over them. Amber’s breathing slowed, her tension easing as she leaned into his warmth. Matthew on the other hand simply stared at her face. It was so peaceful, so serene. Her long lashes rested gently on her cheeks, and her lips were slightly parted. In the soft moonlight, her skin seemed to glow with an ethereal radiance. Matthew found himself captivated by the gentle curve of her neck, the delicate line of her collarbone peeking out from her nightgown.
As he gazed at her, Matthew became acutely aware of the warmth of her body pressed against his side. The sweet scent of her hair filled his senses. His breath quickened as he noticed the rise and fall of her chest with each breath. The thin fabric of her nightgown left little to the imagination.
Matthew shifted uncomfortably, feeling a familiar stirring. He tried to focus on something else - anything else - but it was no use. His body was responding to her closeness, her beauty, the intimacy of the moment.
Matthew swallowed hard, trying to regain control of his thoughts and his body’s reactions. He knew he should put some distance between them, but he couldn’t bring himself to move away. Amber’s warmth and softness against him felt too right, too perfect.
Amber must have sensed the change in him. She lifted her head slightly, her eyes meeting his. In the dim light, Matthew could see a mix of vulnerability and desire in her gaze. Her lips parted as if she wanted to say something, but no words came out.
With a soft sigh, Matthew gently cupped Amber’s face in his hands and brought his lips to hers. The kiss was tender at first, but quickly deepened as years of unspoken longing poured out between them. Amber’s fingers tangled in Matthew’s hair as she pressed herself closer.
Matthew’s hands roamed down Amber’s back, tracing the curve of her spine through the thin silk of her nightgown. He marveled at the softness of her skin as he caressed her shoulders and arms. Amber shivered at his touch, her breath catching.
Slowly, reverently, Matthew lowered Amber onto the bed. He paused to gaze at her, taking in her flushed cheeks and bright eyes. Amber reached up to trace Matthew’s jawline, her touch feather-light.
"Are you sure?" Matthew whispered.
"Yes."
