The place where Kyle brought Alatia was not the entrance of the labyrinth, which he originally planned; rather, he brought her back to the dormitory, knowing very well that his mistress had something to say.
And as he thought,
"I won't abandon you, huh?" Hearing her fake sarcasm made Kyle sigh. He knew his interaction with Charlotte wouldn't be appreciated. Maybe it was because he formed a brotherly bond with Charlotte back then that he ended up comforting the girl.
Kyle gently arranged her messy hair strands that were obstructing his view as he soothingly spoke, "You know me better than anyone. I was just trying to assure her." Although Kyle was short on time, he gave himself a little rest to coax this big baby.
Alatia looked away, her hand crossing over her chest. Her posture suggested that unless he didn't compensate, she wouldn't be going to listen to him.
Finally, he yielded, "Let's take a bath together today."
Alatia's eyes sparkled as she confirmed, "Together and naked right?"
Kyle wanted to say something like, 'It doesn't suit a maiden to ask something so straightforwardly,' but since he was short on time, he just nodded, and after receiving a happy smile from his mistress, he warped away with Alatia in tow.
"Huh?! You? Who are you?" The response was quick from the instructor responsible for the class of first year
Seeing Alatia in the arms of a masked man, the instructor instantly lit up his batons, ready to lunge at the stranger
But Alatia instantly stood between the two and said, "He is an ally, instructor."
The older one looked puzzled but before he could ask any further, the masked man disappeared.
...
[Half a minute ago]
Upon not finding the masked man appearing again, even though it had been three minutes already, Sasha began to feel her stomach churning and panic building within her.
She turned towards Logan and found his eyes currently looking at Aron. The words that Sasha wanted to say died in her mouth as she comforted her friend wordlessly by rubbing and holding his hand tenderly.
Charlotte never showed any panic. Since he promised, she knew he wouldn't abandon her. And soon, her expectation was proven justified.
"Attack mirroring. Nullification. Silent steps. Immense strength and agility. With these skills, I wonder if someone could struggle against a mere B-rank Oni."
His words stabbed her heart and sent a chill down her spine. Her eyes widened, the only feature on her face which was visible currently. She stood there, completely bathed in blood and currently feeling a great crisis arising within.
She stepped forward, her mind still not completely stable as she slowly uttered, "I-I was weakened at that time....that O-Oni suddenly attacked me..."
Charlotte held a reason but there was no confidence in her voice.
He crossed his hands behind his back before casually asking, "Who is your target? Tell me so I can decide whether you are coming with me or...your dear body." Those words came out with conviction. Kyle suspected Charlotte's animosity was directed toward Alatia...and that was not acceptable to him. Screw the plot.
Charlotte seemed to have received severe damage hearing his words, as with staggering steps she backed away and uttered in disbelief,
"F-for her...y-you w-will k-k-kill me....?"
Kyle didn't respond. He held his stance and allowed Charlotte to register what could happen if she held ill intentions toward Alatia.
Suddenly, the blood-bathed girl halted, her head leaning down.
Kyle narrowed his eyes from behind the mask, ready to act if she suddenly decided to attack....however, much to his shock, she suddenly raised her hand and demonstrated a similar attack as the Ape before.
Creating a barrage of air strikes around her, she camouflaged herself, preventing Kyle from keeping up with her position. He was agile with his spells, but he had a feeling that she wasn't going to attack him.
And once the tides of air halted, Charlotte was no longer there.
She....disappeared.
Kyle leaned his head down. Didn't he just provoke a canon character and push her into danger? This floor was filled with dangers that a sixteen-year-old couldn't face, even though she was insanely strong.
Clenching his fist, he decided to coax Alatia a little more than he was supposed to and marched into the depths of the labyrinth.
'Seriously, how quickly my opinion shifts these days...'
