Chapter 547: With a Purpose
Chapter 547: With a Purpose
"What do you want? How dare you bully my mother! I'll show you what I'm capable of!"
"You little brat, you've got guts. You actually dared to hit me. I'll strangle you to death today."
The man sneered and reached out to find Changning.
Lin Rusi naturally wouldn't let anyone arrest someone in front of her, so she took the bamboo skewer the old man had placed aside and stabbed it directly at that hand.
The other party was also surprised by her speed and immediately withdrew their hand.
Realizing this, Lin Rusi immediately pulled Changning behind her and looked at the man warily.
But when the other party saw that it was a soft bamboo skewer that could not hurt him at all, his face darkened again, and he suddenly took a step forward and reached out to grab Lin Rusi.
Because her attention was still on Changning at that moment, Lin Rusi did not notice this action.
"mother!"
Hearing the child's soft cry, she felt a weight on her shoulder and, without thinking, plunged the wooden skewer into him.
But the next instant, his arm was grabbed tightly.
"You really think this bamboo skewer can hurt me?"
"You only have two choices now: either try to please me or I'll arrest your son and force you to stay with me obediently."
"nonsense."
Lin Rusi turned to look at the other side, and was about to order the hidden guards to start moving when she heard a sweet voice.
"What are you doing? Let go right now!"
"Another young lady has arrived. Not bad, really not bad."
The man reached out and tried to lift the woman's chin, but then sensed something was wrong and was pulled away by his companion.
"So it was you. We misunderstood. Please forgive us."
"You know me? That makes things easier. Now, take your companions and leave immediately, or don't blame my servants for being impolite."
As they spoke, the servants following behind the woman took out wooden sticks and tapped their palms repeatedly, as if they were about to strike them.
Sensing something was wrong, the group slowly took a step back and then heard another voice.
"Hurry up and leave!"
With a low shout, the man and his companions quickly turned around and rushed out as if fleeing.
Once the figure disappeared from sight, Lin Rusi smiled and bowed slightly to the servant standing next to her.
"Madam, there's no need for such formality. I noticed their dissatisfaction long ago, which is why I took action to drive them away."
"But they don't have good tempers, and they might bring people back to retaliate, so it's best to leave as soon as possible."
Lin Rusi nodded slowly, looked at the street she hadn't walked far, couldn't help but sigh, and raised her hand to pat the child's back behind her.
"It's not a good day to wander around anymore, shall we head back?"
"If Madam doesn't want to go back, why don't we take a walk together? Anyway, with us here, they shouldn't be able to make any moves."
"Is that so? Then I'll trouble you all."
Looking into the child's bright eyes, Lin Rusi held the child beside her and followed him inside.
Walking all the way to the end, I found that the things were pretty much the same as those in the capital, so I turned around and looked in the other direction.
"Is Changning tired?"
"Yes, Mother, I want to go back."
Seeing the child's condition, Lin Rusi gently picked him up and was about to leave.
But before he could make a move, the young lady blocked his way.
Their eyes met, and Lin Rusi took a step back, her expression unchanged, but she smiled and turned her head to look at the other side.
"The child is too tired and needs to go home. What are you doing, young lady?"
“I, I would like to invite you to my residence to rest for a while. After all, you have been walking for so long, so please take a break.”
Upon hearing this, Lin Rusi paused slightly before smiling again.
The young lady thought she had succeeded and was about to turn and leave when she heard the other person's voice.
"No need. I may not have much else to offer, but I'm physically strong. If I carry the child over now and then walk back, it will probably be dawn by then."
"How could that be? If Madam wishes to rest, we have a place to rest in our mansion. We will prepare a room for you."
Seeing that the other party clearly wanted to say something else, Lin Rusi stopped him from making a move and walked straight towards the crowd that had not yet dispersed.
As the slender figure disappeared from sight, the young lady frowned deeply, and it took her a long time to exhale a breath of stale air.
"Well, it's good enough that people remember us for now."
After saying this, the woman glanced in the direction Lin Rusi had left before turning around and quickly walking into the courtyard.
What she didn't know was that although the other person left, his subordinates did not, and even overheard those words.
Back at the inn.
Lin Rusi wanted to put the child on the bed so that she could get a good night's sleep, but then she met a pair of round eyes.
"Not asleep?"
"That young lady, I feel like something's not right with her, Mother, please don't get close to her, okay?"
It is said that children have sensitive senses, and Lin Rusi naturally wouldn't deny his words.
She raised her hand and patted the round little head, revealing a smile.
"Then Mother should thank you very much, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to leave directly."
Seeing that Changning was yawning again, Lin Rusi immediately put him on the ground.
"I haven't washed up yet, Mom, could you take me to the backyard to wash up?"
"The water in the backyard is too cold, shall we wipe ourselves down first?"
The child naturally knew about this, and obediently nodded. He then stepped onto the small stool brought by the waiter and wiped his face with water from the basin.
Once the little one had completely fallen asleep, Lin Rusi looked in another direction.
"What's the situation? Did she have an ulterior motive?"
"There was indeed an ulterior motive, but it seems to be an attempt to befriend the lady."
Shall we become friends?
But Lin Rusi still felt something was wrong. She turned her head to look at the distance and a smile appeared on her lips.
"I'm afraid that even if someone tells her, she won't be able to find out my identity."
"Madam is right, but do you have any ideas about who that person is?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Rusi frowned and worriedly placed her hand on Changning's forehead again.
She gently stroked the child until he felt more at ease, then squinted and looked in the opposite direction.
"I wonder how Jingyang is doing now. I'm a little worried that he might come up with some good plan this time."
"This matter..."
The guard didn't say what he was going to say aloud, but he had already made his point clear.
Lin Rusi simply raised her hand and rubbed the bridge of her nose before pulling Changning into her arms.
“I’m fine with being plotted against, but if someone wants to make a move against Changning, I’ll fight them to the death.”
"Don't worry, Madam, we will definitely protect you."
"Then deal with the potential troubles without holding back."
Unexpectedly, Lin Rusi was so decisive. The guards paused slightly, but then led a few others to stand in the room and bow to her.
