Chapter 327: Using Shadow Bullets, Explosive Power
Chapter 327: Using Shadow Bullets, Explosive Power
Darkness slowly gathered before Leon as he closed his eyes in concentration.
And after less than a single second had passed, several shadow bullets materialized in the air around his body.
He hadn’t had the time to use or train this ability at all even though it was one of his strongest along with [Eclipse Dance].
In fact, Leon only managed to summon fifteen shadow bullets around him at this moment.
It was an incredibly small amount compared to the thousands that the [Forsaken King] had summoned at once back when they had fought against each other.
SMASH!
One of the ogres tried to attack Leon from the side with its massive fist, but he simply dodged the attack effortlessly, not even bothering to strike back because it wasn’t worth his attention.
’I have an SSS-Rank darkness sub talent, which is even higher than the forsaken king himself had, so why am I struggling so much with this ability?’ Leon thought to himself with frustration, ’Oh well, I’ll figure it out eventually.’
He knew thinking too much wouldn’t do any good in this situation though, because overthinking often made things worse in combat, so instead, Leon focused on using his shadow bullets.
All of them were roughly the size of a human finger, floating around him and spinning in slow circles, waiting for him to choose their targets and unleash them.
Leon could feel an incredible amount of aura emanating from each of the small bullets though, a power that was fueled by his SSS-Level sub talents and the darkness affinity he had worked so hard to build.
All of the ogres and goblins finally decided to attack at once, all of them rushing at Leon with pure madness in their corrupted eyes, no longer caring about strategy or self preservation.
And then, in that single moment of chaos...
Fwoosh!
Leon aimed one bullet at each of the monsters standing before him, and the moment he did, every single bullet turned toward their designated target and rushed forward at blinding speed that was almost impossible to track.
They were so incredibly fast that even the monsters didn’t realize what had happened until the bullets actually reached their heads and penetrated the skulls.
BOOM!
And the moment they did, every single monster that was hit had their head explode from the sheer power of the impact, sending blood and brain matter spraying across the clearing like a fountain of gore.
"Holy shit," Leon’s eyes widened as he took a step back, genuinely shocked by the raw power of his own bullets, "Haha... that’s incredible, I didn’t expect that at all."
The [Forsaken King] really wasn’t joking around when he used all of those bullets.#
If even a single bullet could do this much damage to a level ninety monster, then if he managed to summon thousands of them at once like the king had done... it would be absolutely devastating to anything standing in his way.
Only two ogres remained alive at that moment, including the one Leon had cut the arm off earlier, both of them looking at the carnage around them with something that might have been fear.
"I only need one of you guys for what I have planned," Leon shrugged casually, "Goodbye to the other one."
SLASH!
He appeared in front of the other monster in an instant and cut its head clean off with one swing, its massive body falling to the ground with a heavy thud that shook the earth.
Seeing all of its companions die around it so brutally, the final ogre seemed genuinely terrified for the first time.
And even through the corruption of "Oblivion" that was supposed to strip away all fear and reason, it really seemed like it wanted to run away as far as its legs could carry it.
But alas for the ogre, it couldn’t escape, because even when it tried to turn and flee, Leon simply rushed forward and arrived in front of it once more, blocking its path.
"You’re going to be our training dummy for a little while," Leon grinned at the terrified creature, "So just sit still and don’t move, if you even think about escaping, I’ll cut off your legs next time."
The ogre backed away from Leon and turned its head to see Celeste standing right there behind it, blocking its other escape route with her spear raised.
"Gr..." it groaned with frustration, "ROOOOAR!"
It roared loudly at the three of them, trying to intimidate them with its massive size and deep voice.
But none of the three players even budged an inch, and even Celeste and Emilia didn’t seem that scared of it anymore.
They knew Leon would move the instant the ogre attempted anything dangerous, so they didn’t feel scared at all, because they trusted him completely to protect them.
"Alright," Leon rushed to Celeste’s side in a split second, "Now it’s time to get your new ember working properly, no more excuses."
Celeste nodded as she took a deep breath to calm her nerves, grabbing her spear tightly in her hand as she faced the one armed ogre that stood before her.
"I need... to focus really hard," she mumbled to herself, closing her eyes, "This is the first time I’ve used an ember in actual battle after all, so I need to be patient with myself."
For the next ten minutes, Celeste repeatedly tried as hard as she possibly could to summon that dark power from within herself, but nothing seemed to work no matter what she did.
"Kyu~"
Even Pyra eventually came out of Celeste’s chest to look at what her owner was doing, tilting her tiny head in confusion.
Honestly, it looked pretty ridiculous from the outside.
Leon asked Celeste to not use any normal skills during this training, since the embers were abilities that you could use just by themselves without any additional activation requirements.
But of course, no matter how hard she concentrated or how many different approaches she tried, nothing she did worked at all, and the darkness ember remained stubbornly dormant inside her.
The ogre of course repeatedly tried to attack Celeste while she was training.
It wasn’t just going to stand there and let her practice on it.
But every time it did, Leon stepped up to block its attack and injure it a little more, and he even cut off its second arm just to be safe and make sure it couldn’t hurt her.
"Don’t lose focus, even with both of its arms gone, that thing is still strong enough to beat you in a fair fight," Leon spoke encouragingly, "Don’t worry about getting hit, I’ll be right there to help in case anything goes wrong, just keep trying."
Feeling slightly more confident once again with Leon’s reassurance, Celeste kept trying over and over again, but not a single trace of her darkness ember appeared no matter what she did.
After an entire hour of constant effort, she finally knelt on the ground in complete exhaustion, because trying to use her powers even unsuccessfully still consumed her energy and left her drained.
"I-I’ll need to train a lot harder than this," Celeste wiped the sweat off her forehead with a shaky hand, "T-This is way too much for me right now, I don’t know if I can do it."
"Kyu?"
The small phoenix pet spun around her owner and pressed its tiny head against her cheeks to comfort her, chirping softly, but that didn’t change how weak and useless Celeste felt at that moment.
Leon was so incredibly strong, and even Emilia was strong enough to stand against these monsters on her own for a little while.
She was the only weak one in their entire group, not even able to use the power of her own special talent, and she felt absolutely pathetic because of it.
But just as Leon was about to step forward to kill the ogre once and for all and end this training session...
Thump!
He heard a heavy sound coming from deeper within the forest, and from between the trees, he saw a massive figure appear, followed by a dozen ogres marching in formation behind it.
"Oh shit..." Leon’s eyes widened as he braced himself for what was coming, his grip tightening on his weapons.
The [Orc of Oblivion] had appeared, it seemed like it was the one that came to seek them.
